Twenty-something Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. She has absolutely no interest in rock ‘n’ roll, but in order to pay the mortgage, she agrees to work on the set of a rock video for the world-famous rockers known as Bad Habit…which brings her face-to-face with Nico Nyx, lead singer of Bad Habit and Adonis in the flesh.

However, the fiercely independent Kat isn’t impressed by the hard-living, womanizing rock star. But when Nico’s model girlfriend shows up to the set drunk and Kat is tapped to replace her as the video’s sexy bride, her combustible chemistry with Nico suddenly threatens to consume the set. Nico feels it, too–and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico hides a dark secret. Can he rock Kat’s world forever, or will he just break her heart?

Intense, gritty, (at times dark) romance and I loved every second of it!

So you have Kat who is a Hollywood makeup artist and her latest job takes her to the set of rock ‘n’ roll band Bad Habit. Little did she know that that one job was going to change the path her life was on, whether it will be for better or worse only time will tell. Nico is a hard man to read, he is very protective of the people he loves and likes getting what he wants. The moment he sees Kat he knows he wants her.

After getting to the set to find his on again/off again ‘girlfriend’ Avery passed out Nico gets her taken home. Kat thinks this would mean the end to the shoot but Nico surprises her by saying that she can play the bride in the video instead. She turns him down but Nico just informs her that he wasn’t asking. While the shoot is taking place you can literally feel the chemistry between them coming off the page, they can certainly feel it on set. After a kiss that makes her melt Kat is confused, she thinks he is a bit of a player, after only just showing his girlfriend off the set. He insists he is single and will try anything to get her to see him.

All he wants is a chance to get her to see that what they feel is real and can go somewhere because when they get together they are off the charts hot. But with the secrets they both keep it might only tear them apart and bring them more pain. Their whole relationship is based on trust, its what can keep them together or break them apart.

A lot happens within this book, some may say too many storylines, but I found they all interlinked with each other to tell the story as a whole without focusing solely on the main characters Kat and Nico – even though they were great. I loved Kat’s best friends Grace and Chloe, they are great characters and I’m hoping they get their own stories too.

I love the quote from Emily Bronte Wuthering Heights at the beginning and feel it perfectly matches the way Kat and Nico are with each other – “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” Kat and Nico are one and the same and no matter what they go through you hope that the pull they feel for each other will always bring them back to where they belong.

5 out of 5 stars

I received this ARC from Net Galley for my honest review.
