My name is Kaylie Flanders, and maybe you heard my story. I was held captive by a psychopath for a decade; six years ago, I escaped. Freedom, though, is harder than I thought it would be.
The only place I feel truly alive is inside the darkness of Club Shamballa. In the shadows of the club, I meet a masked stranger with piercing green eyes, a body chiseled to perfection, and a magic touch.
I can’t see him, I can’t hear him—yet he touches me in ways no one else has before.
Who is Mask, and what is he hiding? Can we heal our broken pasts together?
I love finding new authors and discovering the worlds that they create, wondering whether you will be moved by what you discover. This story does that; it will draw you in and keep you there right until the end to see how it all plays out.
So you have Kaylie who has had her childhood ripped away from her after being kidnapped and held captive for 10 years. Its been 6 years since she was set free but then she finds ‘free’ is a word that’s subjective as she’s continued to feel trapped in the world she now lives. Everything has changed from what she remembers as a child and she feels like she is always trying to catch up. She doesn’t know how to fit in to the world around her but after talking to her online therapist he suggests she go to a BDSM club called Shamballa where she will be able to express her desires in a safe environment.
Once there she becomes attached to a certain Dom and finally feels free. He is always silent and wears a mask but even though it creates a barrier between them she feels connected to him in a way that she doesn’t with anyone else. He is holding back secrets aswell and you have to wonder whether they will help bring each other the peace they are looking for.
When Kaylie’s life is in danger she looks to people who she can trust to help, but is her trust misplaced. She usually gets a feeling for certain situations and you have to wonder why she doesn’t always listen to them. She is a complex character who reads those around her – this talent might yet save her life.
I liked this flow of this story; it was a short read so easy to handle in an hour or so and leaves you wanting to know what will happen next. Eden Claire is an author to watch so will definitely continue with the series.
Author Eden Claire, a/k/a Island Girl, can often be found working hard on her tan, indulging her Thai food addiction, and singing karaoke. She believes in peace, love, and a hot alpha billionaire for every woman. You can find Author Eden Claire on Facebook.
