Rose Lenox has grown up to be more comfortable on the back of a horse than wearing ribbons and bows like her seven adopted sisters. For years working the land was enough, but lately Rose finds herself wishing for something different. She wants her own ranch and freedom from her overwhelming and unorthodox family. Rose is determined to strike out on her own and forge her own path.
Lenox neighbor, Chance Goodman, has watched Rose grow from a spitfire of a girl to a beautiful and fiery woman. For years he’s waited patiently and watched her struggle to find her place in the world. When she leaves the Lenox ranch alone, determined to abandon her former life and to say good-bye to him, he knows the time has come to claim her. Letting her walk away isn’t an option. Chance knows exactly what she needs…and he’s going to give it to her.
Follow the eight Lenox sisters through this historical erotic series that’s as big and bold as the Montana Sky. The Wildflowers of Montana begins with Rose and her hot, Alpha cowboy.
Well who wouldn’t fall for a cowboy! Sexy historical erotic romance story, this book has it all.
Rose has always felt a bit out of sorts with her adopted sisters, being more feisty and boisterous than placid. They are more interested in bows and ribbons and what the latest gossip is, whereas she would prefer to spend all her time out running the Lenox ranch. The only problem is that even this is starting to feel like a chore. She feels like she needs to move on to something new and when she suggests this to her neighbour and friend Chance Goodman she doesn’t get the answer she was hoping for. Instead of maybe saying that he doesn’t want her to go anywhere or that he wants her for himself (which she has been wanting for a very long time) he simply says she doesn’t belong there any more. This leads Rose to make a rather rash decision that causes her all sorts of problems.
Chance has been binding his time for when Rose would come of age to marry and even then he waited a bit longer. He has always been able to see right through her façade that she holds up for everyone else to see. So when he sees her banging the hell out of a nail into a post he knows she is frustrated and needs to talk. When she says that she feels like she needs to go he knows this is the perfect time to make his declaration, only problem is she runs away before he gets the chance. When he does catch up to her she is caught in a rather comprising position as a man is trying to get her up to a room in the saloon. Only Rose could get herself in this situation so fast, so Chance sees his moment to get her where he wants her, with him for good. He has held out for long enough and now he wants to claim her as his in every way possible.
Rose can’t believe her luck when Chance says he wants to marry her and more to the point that he wants her to help with the running of his ranch. When he says: “You’re mine, Rose. Always have been.” she actually feels like the world is spinning. All her dreams seem to have come true, except that she isn’t quite getting the complete freedom she thought she was and Chance seems to be picky about what she can and can’t do with the running of the ranch, going on a cattle drive being one of them. She needs to learn to let go and trust that he will lead her in the right direction. He will protect her from everything, even herself.
You can feel the tension building between them and know that when they come together it is going to be explosive and tantalizing good. There is a small amount of BDSM in this book but it is more about the pleasure and trust that grows between Rose and Chance that makes the story so great. Their relationship is all about the journey they go on, physically and figuratively, and even though it was a short story you do feel the depth of their feelings for one another. What a great start to the series, I can’t wait to see what all the other sisters get up to.
