Synopsis:

Aidan

Surf.

Fuck.

Get high.

Sounds like the perfect day to Aidan Callahan. As second-born son to Chicago’s most influential business owner, Aidan’s life has always been about responsibility. Tradition. Toeing the goddamn line. Just do as you’re told, Aidan. Don’t make waves.

Well, screw that. Riding waves is way more fun than making them.

Hawaii is paradise on earth. Smoking hot women. Tiny bikinis. As far as Aidan’s concerned, wild horses couldn’t drag him kicking and screaming back to the windy city. Or at least that’s what he thought.

When his brother crashes his Mercedes, killing himself on impact, Aidan finds himself next in line to the Callahan fortune and all the ties that come with it.

And this time there’s no getting out of it.

Essie

A warm bed.

A steady job.

A brother who loves her.

For Essie Floyd, life’s been one hard kick in the teeth after another. With her parents both dead, her brother is her only living relative. That is until Vaughn’s truck is written off, his life snatched away by the careless actions of a rich playboy in a flashy sports car.

Now, the only thing that will bring Essie peace is revenge. She must take what was taken from her. Only when the name Callahan has been wiped from the face of the earth forever will she be able to start living again.

Of course, the new head of the Callahan Corporation isn’t what she expected. Aidan’s sexy and sad, and just as damaged as she is. Will she be able to distance herself enough to accomplish her goal?

After all, ruining a man’s really hard when you find yourself falling for him…

Review:

OMG this book was awesome. I loved every second of it. From heartache to lust filled passion you are taken on quite the journey. Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book you can finish in a day.

From the moment it starts you know this is going to be hot. The prologue tells you what is to come between Aidan and Essie but what they go through to get there is huge. Hot and heavy is how Aidan starts his story but he needs to take you back to the beginning as he fears that where he is right now might just be the end.

Essie is such a loving, carefree character at the start. She would do anything to help others and anything for her brother. Since it’s just been the two of them for so long you can see why they would depend on each other so much. But one moment can change your life forever. Essie gets a phone call that forever changes the path she was on. At first she feels that if she stays still then world will stop spinning and nothing will have to change but in an instant everything has. This is one of the few books where while I was reading I was willing the outcome to be different just to save her the heartache.

Aidan has been living the life he wants for a few years now, not the one his family have wanted him to, fun in the sun taking things in his stride. He has no interest in coming home to help his brother run the family business now that their father has retired. The conversation between them does not go well when his brother tells him to come home. It’s that last comment Aidan says that gets me, you are just willing him to take it back but he can’t. His brother made a mistake and because of it many lives have been forever changed in the process. If you don’t get tears in your eyes reading the first section then you must be mad.

Death has a way of changing everything and from the moment Essie puts her brother in the ground she is set on a path of revenge for the family that put him there. Aidan is the all that’s left to take down and she will stop at nothing until she takes everything from him and his family name. After biding her time she finally has what it takes to take him down. She just didn’t expect the path of revenge to look so tempting.

Aidan has been keeping a close eye on Essie ever since the accident. He is constantly trying to convince himself that he is just concerned about her welfare but really it’s because she is everything that he has been craving. She is the one woman he knows he shouldn’t want but can’t seem to stop. After a strange meeting ends with her asking him out he all but jumps at the offer but knows that there has to be more to her than meets the eye. She is acting like she doesn’t know who he really is and something about that just doesn’t sit right with him.

From her first meeting with Aidan Essie doesn’t know what to make of him. He is nothing like she would have expected and after their dinner date ends things start to really heat up, taking an unexpected turn back at his place. She is about to be thrown another curve ball but this time she can decide where it should land. Essie has been on a path of revenge for so long that she doesn’t know how, or if she even can, change course now. But if Aidan has any say in it in the next instalment he will do anything he can to get her. Even if it’s just to set her free from the pain she has been carrying around for so long.

I have to say though that the sex between Aidan and Essie is beyond hot. Cole really knows how to write some good scenes and I can’t wait to see what they get up to in the next instalment. If this book has been anything to go by I’d say it’d be a bit kinky!
