He’s good with his hands and handy with his tools.

Laurel Young needs a plan, and fast. After her reality TV boss has a major meltdown, not-so-fun employment seems inevitable–unless she can pitch the idea of a lifetime. When she sees Flint McKay’s audition tape – flanneled, handsome as hell, and building a house with his own two hands – she knows she’s found her secret weapon. The women of America are going to love him, especially if she can convince him to try building without the flannel shirt.

Only problem is, Flint didn’t make that tape – and he has zero interest in trading the wilds of Western Massachusetts for the bright lights of Hollywood. But Laurel isn’t the kind of girl to take no for an answer. Soon, she’s knee-deep in rustic charm, and getting plenty of hands-on experience. And it turns out, this city girl and country guy may have a few things in common after all, like crazy hot chemistry, a wild side, and a weakness for good whiskey…

But can their behind-the-scenes connection last once the world falls in love with Flint? And will this be the big break both of them need- or leave them in the dirt?

Loved Lila’s Billionaire with a Twist series so when I heard about this one I knew right away I would want to read it. Laurel is a bookworm, fantasy Sci-fi nerd who loves the minions. Seriously its like I’ve been sucked into a book and its freaking awesome. Loved this so much. Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A contemporary romance.

Laurel has found herself in a bit of a mess when her producer boss runs away with a star lead from their show they are currently filming. She now has no show and more importantly fears she has no job. That’s until the boss of the company calls her into his office to give her a sink or swim shot at pulling together a new show concept within the week. No pressure then! With her asshat ex also being in the running to get a new show idea this pushed Laurel to go all in as she doesn’t want to really think about what could happen if she fails. After a few too many drinks with her friend after work she heads back to the office to go through the old showreels. Her no hold bars, full speed ahead idea at the bar is slowly losing its steam and after being at it for hours she almost gives up, that is until she stumbles across Flints. From the moment he appears on the screen ideas start to form in her mind about a DIY show with Flint as its star. Not only is he good with his hands making things but he is also a dream to look at. When he looks into the camera its almost like he’s talking to her alone. So after getting no response from her messages to him she does what any normal person would do when facing a one shot deal. She travels across the country right up to his door to offer him the chance to be a reality star on his own show. Who wouldn’t say yes to that? Well Flint apparently as he slams the door in her face saying he’s not interested. Then goes one step further by driving away completely.

After giving chase but losing sight of him anyway Laurel fears all hopes are lost so makes her way back to town to drown her sorrows in the local bar. She just doesn’t expect Flint to appear beside her after she has had a few. With nothing to lose she finally does something for her by starting to flirt with him a little and gets an unexpected response when he starts to flirt back. He’s game and the chemistry between the two soon escalades to full blown passion outside the bar.

Flint still can’t believe the reason behind Laurel coming to see him. He never made the tape and has no interest in becoming a star; he just wants to run his hardware business, even if it is failing lately. As soon as Laurel hears this though she starts on a new course of action by telling him what this could do for his business with all the promotion. At the chance of getting more business Flint decides to at least hear Laurel out with what she has in mind.

Laurel needs a hook with the idea and while at Flint’s house she spots plans for a house. She knows this could be the best way forward for the show. Flint has the land and plans drawn up so all he needs to do is build the house. The show would just follow him on his journey. Perfect idea but it still needs to get passed at the board meeting and from the outlooks it doesn’t go well. This again leads Laurel to want to drown her sorrows but this time she takes Flint with her. Laurel, Flint and whiskey are a combination that only leads to them letting their guards down and having one hell of a good time. Laurel thinks it would be a perfect goodbye as she doesn’t think she will ever see him again but a phone call the next day telling her that the show is passed means they will be spending a awful lot of time together over the coming weeks.

As they are going to be working together Laurel tells Flint that they can’t have a repeat of what happen in LA. When he agrees a little too quickly you get the impression that Laurel was hoping he would fight her on it. Flint is still not overly keen on the idea of being the star of the show and it comes across as such when filming starts. He only seems to relax on screen when he is talking to Laurel. She is like a calming balm that takes away all his stress; they seem to balance each other out quite nicely. The longer the filming continues though the harder it is for them to keep apart. They are drawn to each other so much that it doesn’t take long before they can’t keep their hands off each other any longer. Laurel starts to really think of how it could possibly work between them but when someone from Flint’s past comes onto the scene Laurel pulls away before she fears she is pushed.

A simple misunderstanding takes place that causes an awful lot of heartache on both sides and with the premier of the show coming ever closer you just hope that they can fix what’s broken.

Loved all the characters within this book so much. As soon as I read that Laurel had minion slippers I knew I was going to love her and Flint is such laid back country gentleman that you can’t help but fall for him along with Laurel. Flint’s sisters were a right laugh too, especially his younger one. All in all a great read and I would definitely recommend this authors work.
