What man doesn’t like to be wanted?

Well, not if you’re me and you’ve just done a stint in jail for a crime you didn’t commit.

The press and social media have crucified me. People hate my guts. Nobody believes that I’m innocent.

Especially the woman who is determined to put me back behind bars because I destroyed her family. She’s hell bent on making me pay for my sins.

I’m starting a new life and putting all that crap behind me.

Except that Addison James won’t let me. She worms her way into my life and my bed until she’s under my skin and I just can’t shake her.

I’m Foster Cruise.

I’m wanted.

“Carrie Newman?” he asked in an über-sexy Australian accent. Her toes curled at the sound of his voice. He reached out his hand and said, “I’m Oliver. Jane sent me over to help you unpack your boxes.”

Whether it was the Florida sun or the handsome man who stood in front of her that hit her like a heat wave, she blinked a few times more, and shook his masculine hand. “Thank you for coming, but I can manage. There are only a few of them anyway.” She pointed to her tightly packed car.

“I don’t mind.” Oliver smiled and clasped his hands, his voice sounding eager and more than ready to help.

I certainly could use your help in more ways than one, she thought to herself, calculating that it had been quite a while since she’d last had sex, which was way too long in her opinion. Shaking naughty thoughts away, Carrie regained her composure. “Thank you. I’d certainly appreciate your assistance.” She turned toward her car and pressed the unlock button, and then he took the lead. Between telling him which room to put the boxes in and passing one another between entranceways, Carrie tried to ignore Oliver’s flirtatious smile and the dimples indented in his cheeks. Finally, they unpacked the last two boxes from the car, leading them to meet in the kitchen.

“Is there anything else I can help you with?”

“No, but thank you for coming.” She observed sweat beading the sides of his forehead. “Can I get you some water? I think I have another bottle in the cooler.” She pointed to the cooler Sara had packed for her.

He wiped the sweat off with his forearm. “No, I’m okay. Thanks, though.”

“Okay.” She looked around her kitchen and awkward silence filled the room.

“Would you like to come to Nick & Johnnie’s tonight? I’m working as a bartender there, and I’d love to buy you a drink.”

Carrie blushed and bowed her head. “I’d love to, but I’m kind of tired,” she lied as his face turned somber. “But maybe soon,” she added, giving him a polite grin.

Oliver beamed. “Wonderful! I look forward to seeing you again.” With one last glance in her direction, he reached into his wallet, pulled out a card, and handed it to her. “Call me if you need anything else. I work full time for Moving Waves, but call anytime—even if you need a handyman—I do it all.”

She wanted to say, “I’m sure you do,” but kept quiet. Shaking her head once again at the dirty thoughts that swam back into her mind, she took his card and smiled at him. “You’ll be hearing from me if I need anything.” She followed him out the door and watched him get into the truck.

“Goodbye,” he said after rolling down the window.

“Bye,” Carrie said quietly as she waved her hand in the warm air.

Book Review: ‘Magnificent Bastard’ by Lili Valente

Magnificent Bastard

Title: Magnificent Bastard: A Sexy Flirty Dirty Standalone Romance

Published: 25th April 2016

Publisher: Self Taught Ninja

Author: Lili Valente

Face it, ladies: love sucks and then you cry…while your ex rides off into the sunset banging your best friend.

But why let a break-up end in tears when it can end with sweet revenge? Enter Magnificent Bastard Consulting and me, chief executive bastard. I’ve got it all–looks, brains, a heart of gold, and the killer instinct guaran-damn-teed to make your ex regret the day he said goodbye.

With the help of my virtual assistant, I’ve built an empire giving broken-hearted women the vengeance they deserve, while keeping myself far from the front lines of the heart. Life is a bowl of cherries, until my virtual assistant shows up on my real doorstep for the first time, begging for a Magnificent Bastard intervention of her own.

Damn… She’s a bona fide sex kitten.

I pride myself on being a true pro, but pretending to be her lover soon leads to giving it to her good, hard, fast, and up against the wall. And somewhere between getting balls deep in my sweet and sexy assistant and watching her ex beg for a second chance, I break every last one of my damn rules–professional and personal.

So what’s my next move? Fight for the girl who makes me want to get up on a white horse and ride to her rescue, or stay a Magnificent Bastard to the end?

Warning: MAGNIFICENT BASTARD is a stand-alone erotic romance told from the hero’s point of view. No cliffhanger. Lots of dirty talk.

Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book that made you laugh out loud. This book will have you in stitches, very funny and witty throughout.

Loved the email and texts back and forth between Bash and Penny. They had connected on a much deeper level than either first realised. Falling for your best friend before meeting them is something unheard of. Their first official face-to-face meeting goes better than either could have hoped. Penny always knew what Bash looked like as she had to send his picture out to clients but the moment he first sees her is brilliant. He is struck by this bona fide sex kitten walking towards him and his first thoughts are how quick he can have her.

So the basics of Bash’s job are to let you get your own back, and get yourself back, after a horrible break up. He becomes your surrogate boyfriend, showing up at all the right places to make your ex realise what he let go. Its to help you get to the point where they will be on their knees begging you to take them back but this is the point you tell them to go to hell because you are worth more than the scrapes they ever gave you. Now with an interesting job like this Bash needed a virtual assistant. Someone to vet out all the possible clients. Penny fit the bill and now two years later they are closer than ever. Well as close as two people can be who have never actually met before. That is until the moment Penny shows up and asks for his services due to having to go to a wedding that she really doesn’t want to – her mothers to her ex boyfriend. The same ex she caught cheating on her with her mother and also the guy who took her virginity. To say she would rather have her teeth pulled would be an understatement but when her mother threatens to keep her two younger sisters away from her if she doesn’t turn up there’s not much she can do. She just hopes she can persuade Bash to help her. She is very insistent that she doesn’t want to ruin their day (or the days leading up to it) but just to save face. She shouldn’t have worried so much because of course he was going to help her.

Not having much time to prep puts Bash at a disadvantage so he puts together a back-story of how they got together close enough to the truth for ease of remembering. At one of their meetings Penny almost feels like giving up, as she doesn’t think they will believable. She goes right in to kiss him to almost prove her point but gets a slightly different reaction to what she thought she would – hello fireworks you just got that spark to set you off. It’s after this meeting that she has the idea that while they are pretending to be a couple they should be getting some of the benefits. Seems like a sound plan as they both can’t seem to think straight around the other now they have met. Penny goes back over old emails and text messages to prove her point that their relationship has slowly changed into something more with flirting coming through front and centre. She wants Bash to think it through before making a decision, something he doesn’t really want to do. Because thinking it through makes him think a bit too much about his life and how he sees himself. He isn’t sure he is ready to see that side of him yet but he also knows if he doesn’t have her then he might go mad.

The sexual chemistry between them is undeniable and can be seen straight from the get go his end but its only after Penny gives him a ‘test’ kiss that you see her reaction. Its like a switch went off and the current between them is electric. Sparks flying off the wall but if you think that’s all they’ve got just wait till they get on that train! Actually scratch that the moment they get back to the cottage is when they finally let loose and attack each other in the best way possible. Now that’s one sure way to burn off that excess energy. Though they do keep coming back for more time and time again. Such a perfect match physically it just takes their minds a little longer to catch up. They seem to get each other more than anyone else ever has but with the tensions surrounding the wedding mounting there’s no telling what might happen.

I still can’t really believe what her mother did. I mean she went after her own daughters’ boyfriend. The way Penny caught them would make anyone go a little crazy. Philip was/is a complete douchebag who deserves everything he gets. He cares little of others feelings and is only thinking about himself. Good riddance my girl Penny. Lets get you out of your shell and back into the world. Preferably into the arms of your magnificent bastard boss who happens to be hotter than hell.

Loved when the old emails and texts came up. It gave a great insight into what their relationship was like in the beginning and how it slowly changed without them even noticing. The emojis that they come up with to make the other laugh are just great. They have very similar tastes and click better than most. They just have to let their conscious minds catch up to what their subconscious minds have known for a while – that they’re perfect for each other.

Fun filled sexy ride that will have you laughing throughout. Can’t wait for Aiden’s story as think he is going to be a hoot. Especially with the little show-stopping stunt he pulls at the end. Now that’s true friendship! Great read that I would definitely recommend.

Book Review: ‘Fear Dreams’ by J.A. Schneider

Fear Dreams

Title: Fear Dreams

Published: 28th March 2016

Publisher: RGS Media

Author: J.A. Schneider

Twitter: @JoyceSchneider1

Liddy Barron, an artist, was injured in a hit-and-run accident that left her with recurring nightmares, partial amnesia, and an increasing obsession in the disappearance of a coed named Sasha Perry. Was Sasha murdered? Insecure and nervous, Liddy’s turmoil grows as she begins seeing ghostly images. Her husband Paul tries to help but suspects it’s just her imagination…while intuitive Detective Kerri Blasco, also obsessed with young Sasha’s disappearance, senses that Liddy may have a key to solving the case, and tries to unravel the shocking truth of what really haunts her.

Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A mystery or detective novel. This one is both and so much more. Take a ride on this suspenseful journey through the lost memories of Liddy.

The story starts a few months after Liddy’s accident – one that she can’t really remember how it happened. A drunk driver hit her after she ran out into traffic. Her husband Paul says they were both really drunk, had a fight and then she ran off. With having no memory of the event she has no reason to doubt him. Even he says his memory is fuzzy due to the booze. Her road to recovery is taking an unusual turn though. Physically she is getting better but emotionally she is way off. Dreams of water, fear of loss and a mysterious girl seemingly asking for help are putting a strain on her psyche. Her shrink keeps getting her to go back to the night of the accident because as soon as she unlocks what’s been too painful to see she will remember everything. Much to the annoyance of a certain person though. The killer could be closer than you think.

Detective Kerri Blasco is a strong character that doesn’t ever want to give up on a case until she catches the person responsible. Especially with Sasha’s missing person’s case. Even though it would not usually be a case she’d deal with, her being a homicide detective, she just knows she has to do something. Her gut is telling her that there is more to it than meets the eye. This girl who had her whole life ahead of her planned out goes missing and everyone just thinks of it as a runaway case. With no new information coming in the case gets closed to a point leaving Kerri the only person taking the lead. She just needs that one clue that will open up new avenues. She just didn’t expect it to come from a drawing.

While Liddy is out at a café with her husband Paul and best friend Beth waiting to check out a new apartment she finds herself with her sketchbook in hand drawing people as they pass. One glance is all it takes to capture someone. The first drawing is good but it’s her second one that catches Beth’s eye. Liddy insists she saw her pass the street but now can’t recall. It’s not until the next day Beth remembers why the girl looked so familiar and that’s because it’s the missing girl Sasha. Unsure what to do at first with her drawing she soon makes her way to see the only detective on the case Kerri. At first she thinks she will be laughed out with her story and drawing but something about her makes Kerri insist she stay and explain more.

This picture and Liddy’s reference to water keep popping up seemingly creating clues to follow. When a friend of Sasha’s is back in town and shows some new pictures Kerri starts to get the break she has been after. She feels a connection with Liddy and gets a feeling that she is a key to unlocking what really happened to Sasha.

Soon suspicion is set at Liddy’s husband Paul’s friends’ door – Ben and Carl. The fact that Paul has a boat that they have all used at some point and that Ben was caught up with a prescription fraud case involving Sasha soon gets more pieces to fall into place. You get a certain vibe about Ben and Carl that you just know something isn’t quite right. Even to a point with Paul. He is a very cleverly thought out character who knows how to play certain ways. He can act the doting husband wanting to help Liddy out with her pain one moment but then flip into a bit of an asshole when he has had a few too many to drink, seemingly to blame her for all his troubles.

The way the story plays out you are being pushed into thinking certain people could have had something to do with it. Many start acting jumpy but it holds out on the big reveal until the end. You are just hanging on for the ride willing Liddy to let her mind open up and remember what’s been hidden. After a traumatic event memories can become hidden until you are ready to remember them. In remembering though she could be putting herself in danger, lets just hope Kerri can get there in time. But if not her then perhaps someone else who has decided to keep a watchful eye on Liddy can keep her safe.

Her shrink had it right all along. The moment she unlocks the past she can see through to a better future. Best read as a one day sitting as I think it helps build the tension more. Great read that will have you gripped throughout. Mystery, intrigue, suspense, this book has it all. So check it out now.

Chris held the restaurant door open for Megan. It was after two on a Sunday and the usual lunch crowd had cleared, so they got a table right away. He’d opted for Fire, the fancy pizza place. He didn’t know what was expected for a date on a Sunday afternoon. Megan was in jeans and he wore shorts, so a really upscale place didn’t seem like a good choice. He’d been here a couple of times and the food was good.
Once they’d ordered their pizza and the waitress had gone, Chris fidgeted a little, tapping his fingers on the table.
Megan studied him over the top of her glass. “Nervous?”
He stopped his hands through sheer force of will. “Nope. Why?” He managed to keep his voice casual. Good.
A grin spread across Megan’s face. “You’re bouncing your leg like crazy.”
Shit. He stopped that too. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” That casual tone he’d managed before? Nope, gone now. He was such a bad liar sometimes. Megan just laughed at him and he smiled. “Fine. I don’t take girls out very often.”
“How often is not very often?” Megan’s tone was dry, and her lips twitched with suppressed laughter.  He appreciated that she was trying not to laugh in his face, even though part of him was kind of annoyed that she found it so amusing that he was flustered. He didn’t get flustered with girls, dammit. But he didn’t date girls either.
He screwed up his face like he was deep in thought. “Hmm. About never.”
Megan lost her fight with her laughter and let it out. She didn’t hold back when she laughed—no simpering giggles like so many girls used when they flirted with him.
Her laughter died down and she studied him again, the humor now gone from her face. “So, this is a date.”
He nodded and took a drink of his soda, wondering where she was going with this. Hadn’t they established this morning that this was a date?
“Does that mean we’re dating?”
He shrugged. “What would that mean, exactly?”
“Don’t worry, you don’t have to take me out to eat all the time or anything.” She flashed him a big grin and he smiled back. “But no fucking anyone else while we’re together. If you want to end it, have the balls to end it with me before you hook up with another chick.”
It was his turn to study her face. The waitress showed up then with their food. What impeccable timing. He waited for her to leave before he returned his attention to Megan. “Sounds fair. And it goes both ways.”
“Of course.” She maintained eye contact, her brown eyes holding his like she was trying to see inside him without giving anything away. Finally she flashed her smile again and got a slice of pizza.
Their conversation relaxed after that. She seemed satisfied with his answers about their relationship, such as it was. Relationship. That was a loaded word. Their … shit. He couldn’t come up with anything better than relationship. In any case, he was happy she didn’t push for more than he was able to give. Exclusivity didn’t seem like too big of a deal. Especially since he hadn’t wanted anyone else since he’d met her.
