The music had all but played out. My life was in turmoil. My only fault was falling for my new boss.

Penelope Marks is now the boss of Lopa, a tiki bar in the heart of South Beach.

Theo Sullivan is still the owner, who sold his soul to the devil himself.

What will these two do to overcome the forces trying to keep them apart?

Continue with the Boss Duet as Theo and Penny try to take down the ones making their lives miserable.

Well the last one ended on a cliff hanger and this one starts just as it left off – well how Penny wished it had happened that is. Dreaming is one thing but the reality of the situation is a lot worse. Glad I went straight into it because it was brutal and I needed to see how things would play out and fast.

So Theo sold part of the business to Penny’s fathers company as that was the best deal he could get, well it was either that or the man would bankrupt him. There’s just one small thing that wasn’t mentioned before signing the contract and that was that the bar would be getting a new boss to run the place. One who just happens to walk into to meet them on her new fiancé arm, Dex the dickhead (yes that’s what I have decided to call him from now on), and that would be Penny. Shocked much, hell yeah, all I was thinking is that she better have a good reason for completely crushing Theo’s heart because the look on his face in that moment is brutal. Well there is a good reason and it just proves what vile snakes Penny’s father and “fiancé” really are. They are both complete tools that should watch out. Karma’s a bitch boys and its coming for you!

To say Theo is broken at this point would be putting it mildly. Staying home living off take out for weeks is not healthy. His only way of knowing that time has passed is when he gets the weekly bar updates from the new ‘boss’. If only there was a damn apology on one of them it might make him feel better, but sadly no. Seems Penny was holding it in until he ventured into the bar and that’s only because they were someone down and she begged him. The first time he says, “yes boss” to her you can see her break a little and you know there is more to the story. Trust me Penny has her reasons for making a deal with the devil – aka her father – but she does take her sweet time in letting Theo know. Come on girl you know you can’t stay away from him for long.

So we found out in the first book why Theo and his brother don’t get along. Little matter of him walking in on him and his then girlfriend Blair (who at the time was pregnant with his daughter Lucy) going at it would do that. I think he then finds it a bit like karma coming back at Dex with the fact that he is the one who really has Penny, if only in secret for now. This only happens when the reason for Penny’s betrayal comes to light. It gets revealed slowly along the way of them coming back together. They’re miserable without each other and can’t keep away. When Theo finds out part, if not all, of the story you can see he is willing to do whatever it takes for the woman he loves. They just need to figure out how to outsmart those around them who seem to be holding all the cards. Or are they? Because when other secrets get revealed they might find out that they have more control than they first thought.

Man alive the passion between them is off the charts hot. No condom, no problem, because there are clearly other ways to have fun in a car. Fan me down please and that’s nothing compared to them under a bridge. Oh and if you thought Theo had a dirty mouth that would make you blush one second and then turn you on in the next in the first book then hold onto you hats for this one. His dirty mouth and mind seem to be rubbing off on Penny aswell with what she comes out with when the two of them have a bit of fun in some public places. He is the right amount of sexy and geeky that you can see why Penny would fall for him and she’s feisty and loyal to a fault to those she loves – something he sees later on. Passions collide again with this one – they do love to rile the other up – but more is on the line this time. They just have to figure out if the risk is worth the reward – a big fat yes if you please!

OMG side note I did not see that betrayal coming from a certain character, I won’t tell you what happens but you will want to jump right into the book to lend a hand. On a better note I love that Penny’s friend Margo makes more of an appearance this time. So want her to have a book next, mainly because I really want to know what happened on that date! Great characters and storyline that kept me hooked until the end. Love the ending with Star Wars links for both of them, its always fun to geek out. Well worth a read so check out this debut duet now.
