Synopsis:

Who said the night shift has to be boring?

David wasn’t looking forward to starting a new job, but it turns out to be anything but dull. The lab where he works as the night security guard is testing an experimental mist, diffused by a humidifier and intended to be a relaxant, but it turns out that it has some very interesting side effects on the women participating in the sleep study.

David resists temptation as long as he can…which turns out to be not very long at all.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2017 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A short story. Another spicy, fun hot short read to get stuck into. Well these scientists seem to be enjoying the side effects of the drug they are testing and I’m sure the previous night shift guards have been as well. (Well apart from the female guard who left the week before). From the sounds of it though the female subjects seem to be enjoying some of the side effects/benefits too, well you hope so anyway or they wouldn’t keep returning.

David has clearly been down on his luck through bad choices in life and is thinking that this job is too good to be true from the get go. Its great pay and he is left to his own devices – just him and the patients for the night – but something has to give. I find it amusing that when he catches a glimpse of one of the test subjects – a blonde he’d like to see more of – the scientist almost reprimands him on the spot saying that the subjects need the highest level of privacy and confidentiality. Which I find ironic, as he knows exactly what the test subjects – and potentially David – might be up to later in the night once the humidifier drug has been put into the rooms.

This story is really solely based around David as he experiences first hand what the experiment really does to the female test subjects and how he might help them out. You have to wonder at first whether they are aware of what they are doing but it appears that they should be or they wouldn’t keep coming back time and again. A humidifier drug to help with sleep insomnia in female patients, well they definitely find a way to feel relaxed and sleepy after letting all of their inhibitions go. Something that he is indefinitely happy about after being pulled into the room with the blonde he saw earlier. He might have the odd moment of wondering whether she really is ok with what is happening but when she demands his undivided attention to be used until she can’t move another muscle they soon fled.

Calling it the Bimbo Experiment is correct, as that’s exactly what they turn into after being exposed to the drug. Seems after they have exhausted themselves they do sleep soundly, which is what they wanted. The only thing is that if they ever use it at home they will find it easier to have someone with them to get to the stage where they will almost collapse and sleep soundly after experiencing pure bliss for a few hours. I’m sure David is more than happy to be that someone for a while.
