Synopsis:

Flipping her grandmother’s house isn’t exactly part of Raelyn’s ten year plan.

After she graduates with her bachelor’s, she wants to head out west and spend her time grinding it out in Silicon Valley, sharing ideas with the slowly growing female population of entrepreneurs trying to claw their way into the technological spotlight.

Instead, her grandmother, rest her soul, leaves her the house Raelyn hasn’t been in for years, and now Raelyn’s obligated–by family, by legislation, by everything– to take care of the estate. Her degree is in computer science, and what little she knows about remodeling and interior design is confined to a few midnight binges of her mother’s favorite TV show.

Thankfully, she has Zoey to the rescue. Her friend for as long as she can remember, Zoey remodels condos on the side, so she’s the first person Raelyn thinks of. Even though Raelyn has seen Zoey in skimpy swimsuits when they went swimming at the town pond, she’s never looked better wearing a short top and carrying a sledgehammer.

The renovation is hard, but it’s easy compared to Raelyn’s hold on her self-restraint. She can barely keep her hands to herself, made even harder when Zoey offers a back massage to relax during a break. Raelyn knows she could use one, with her aching back and all, but she can think of something else she wants even more.

If you enjoy steamy stories of lesbians, curiosity, and long-time friends, you’ll love Do It Yourself.

(This explicit, 5,000 word story is intended for adult readers only.)

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book by a female author. Well that’s one way to get someone to consider a different colour scheme for the new kitchen! Though to be fair the kitchen to Zoey is just the bonus.

Raelyn has been left her grandmothers house in her estate and needs to be able to fix it up to sell on. Lack of funds means that she can’t have a crew in to help her but as she’s back home she connects with her old friend Zoey. Close friends in the past but it seems that this time around things are about to change. Raelyn has known that Zoey is in to both men and women, and even though she had never considered it before, she feels drawn to her this time around for some reason. Hard labour and sweat seem to be playing a key part in this reconnection between them. Her fantasies seem to be running amuck whenever she watches Zoey work. There is only so long that she can get away with the spaced out look on her face before Zoey notices something is on her mind.

Seems great minds think alike in that regard but Zoey needs to tread carefully as this would be new territory for Raelyn. When she seems to be struggling with the manual labour of the gutting process with the kitchen she mentions aches and pains. Cue an idea from Zoey with how to test the waters so to speak. Taking her into the living room, down onto the couch, to try and get rid of those muscle aches would be a start. With massaging her shoulders and back to get her all relaxed while breathing close to her ear you can see how quickly the tension would start to build between them. Both wanting something but not sure if they should take the final step to get.

Good idea or bad idea? Either way it’s an idea that both want to follow through with. Physical connection between them builds to the point of clothes flying around everywhere. Instincts are good to follow through with but Raelyn is still going to need a little guidance. With Zoey being a handy DIY kind of person she is more than happy to take the lead and get them to where they both really want to go. With the amount of work needed for the house to be complete I have a feeling, as they are staying there while working, that this may be a fun tactic Zoey uses to persuade Raelyn to think differently with the design of the house. The ending gave that fun idea but I think again that would just be a fun diversion for them when decisions need to be made.

Clear friendship there from years before so they are comfortable around each other. Stepping into new territory but one they both seem to want to try out. Fun escapades while getting the house sorted. Now many other rooms are they willing to test out?

Synopsis:

THE LIBERTINE.

St Andrews, Scotland: 1715. His witchcraft could save her from ruin, or guide her swiftly to it…

Lennox Taskill is a rogue, a seducer, and a powerful witch. He has seen his kind scorned and persecuted, and hunts endlessly for his sisters, Jessie and Maisie. His only other loyalty is to his coven, who he wants to take north to safety in the highlands, as soon as he reunites with his sisters. Lennox’s disdain for humanity is sealed by the searing memory of his mother burning at the stake. So when the wife of a wealthy local landlord comes seeking his help through magic, the beguiling Chloris Keavey presents Lennox with his greatest opportunity for distraction…and revenge.

Chloris is in danger of being turned out by her heartless husband because she hasn’t provided him an heir. She vows to find a way through witchcraft, but soon surrenders to Lennox’s seductive magic in more ways than one. Her desire for Lennox overwhelms her, and her fragile heart is at risk. But with a witch hunt brewing, Lennox and Chloris are soon risking everything for their forbidden nights of ecstasy…and to protect the secret that could cost them their lives. This is a paranormal, historical, erotic romance novel set in Scotland.

Please note: This is an adult title featuring explicit language and scenarios appropriate to the historical setting. Previously published with a different cover.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Challenge – A book about witches.

Chloris Keavey is in trouble and she fears the only way out of it, or rather to solve her problem, is to go an unconventional route in the way of seeing a witch. She needs to become pregnant or she fears her husband will cast her out for not giving him what he wants. It also soon becomes clear that her life might depend on it – scars tell a torrid story of her married life. She needs help with her fertility, and after talking to a maid in her cousin Tamhas’s household while she’s there, she heads out to contact a supposed witches coven. She hopes to find a mature woman leader who can help her, with herbs or perhaps a spell with being desperate, but finds herself in front of a dangerously handsome man instead. His features alone give her a clear impression that the rumours of witches carnal desire nature, due to practicing their craft, being very much true. The heat coming off both of them with barely a word spoken is nothing compare to the spark she feels when he touches her bare hand.

Lennox is a seducer to the max and is intrigued by Chloris right from the start. He doesn’t think for a moment that she’s barren, more so that it’s her husband. If she comes back to him, after her feeling a small measure of his power, it might intrigue him enough to want to help. Women come to him often to lie on their backs freely but Chloris would be very different. One touch of her hand and he knows he can trust her. In his eyes she’s a woman who hasn’t yet been truly awoken to her sensual nature. Something he wants to help with.

Lennox has two goals in life, to find his lost sisters Jessie and Maisie and to help his people that are being persecuted by validating them. It seems that when he fails to move forward on either front his boredom kicks in, which can lead him into trouble. Chloris seems to be a good distraction. He might want to help her out in a small way to start but longs to seduce her much more.

Seems Lennox and Tamhas have a bit of old tension between them. I feel, at first, that he kind of wanted to help Chloris – mainly by seducing her – so that it would get back to Tamhas. But he should be careful as Tamhas is just looking for a reason to cry ‘witch’ with anyone associated with Lennox. Right from the start you get the vibe that Tamhas can’t be trusted. Something Chloris takes too long to see. She was always just a pawn to be used when he couldn’t get what he wanted from her. Lennox must be wary to protect the people in his coven, and soon Chloris too.

There are fun times to be had at the market. When chaos distracts others she feels stillness at her back knowing Lennox is there. He say’s he’ll do the ritual to help her so needs to come to the house in the dead of night, but only if she gives him a sign she wants him to. Seems she can still feel his touch on her hand from the night before. Perhaps it’s his way to infuse heated passion into her from a distance? It all seems to lead to the first ritual. Magic and passion infused as one. Well that’s one way to get heated and feel the touch of magic caress your skin. Well magic and Lennox that is. The ritual is the first of many; well that’s what Lennox is hoping for. He asks her to meet him the morning after in the woods just as the light is forming so that nature’s magic is at its highest point. This soon leads to fun times in the forest when he starts to awaken her true self fully with the feel of magic, and Lennox, all around her. He is definitely a master seducer and Chloris is in his sights to surrender to him.

It might start out as a magical ritual but it soon turns into a passionate love affair – very spicy between them. Feelings are soon creeping in too. Can Lennox see what she really means to him to save her from the path she is on? He is always the saviour it seems. Well he tries to be anyway. He has his coven he protects, kin but not family. He will always be looking for his sisters to bring them home. Now he has Chloris and as the connection between them builds so does the risk of discovery. He needs to protect her from dangers closer to home. People are hunting witches, Tamhas at the lead of that one. Can he out run them?

Fun witchy goings on with the Taskill family and Lennox sure has some power behind him. Don’t get in his way when someone he loves is in danger. A family is slowly coming together, new non-magical partners too, but one still left to find. Let’s see what it takes to find her so they can all be safe in the Highlands. Loved the ending, it really picked up then. Shows how everything was meant to follow a certain path to finding what, or rather who, he has been searching for. Things happen for a reason so they all need to listen more to what their magic is telling them. Hopefully it will help guide them all home.

Book Review: ‘A Fair Swap’ by Ava Sterling

Title: A Fair Swap: A Swingers Story

Synopsis:

They have an arrangement with another couple. Swap once a month.

Alexis and Richard have been married a long time–long enough to know what it’s like to be stuck in a rut. The same thing, the same night of the week, the same position…just everything the same. They sorely needed something to spice up their marriage. Then Aaron and Rhea walked into their lives.

Being a successful venture capitalist, Aaron has more than enough wealth and gravitas to impress, but Alexis soon finds out he has equally impressive moves in the bedroom. Once they start swapping regularly, Alexis can’t wait to see him again.

Now in a fancy Italian restaurant, Alexis finds herself in a familiar predicament: wanting Aaron but having to wait until they arrive at one of their houses for the fun to begin. Fortunately for Alexis, Aaron intends on enjoying her even before that point.

If you enjoy steamy stories of swingers, married couples, sharing wives, and sharing husbands, you’ll love A Fair Swap.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – An erotica romance. Another fun, sexually charged, short erotica read. This one has a more complex feel to it as we are clearly coming into the dynamics of the wife swap a few months in. So everything is still new but there is no longer the nervous energy around them all. More like getting totally adsorb in the swapped partner they are each with.

Alexis and her husband Richard were clearly in a bit of a rut and wanted to spice things up. It is never said how they came about with this unconventional, but fun, arrangement, more that you are taken right into it while they are waiting for their friends to appear at the restaurant. The sexual tension is almost building at that point and when Rhea and Aaron make an appearance it just keeps getting higher. As soon as they arrive, after the hellos, it’s like a straight swap happens then and there before even getting to the table. Luckily they are in a booth, as neither couple can seem to keep their eyes, hands and minds off the other. With the tension building you know that dessert won’t be had at the restaurant but more like an extra treat with their swapped mate.

Aaron seems to have a way of making Alexis’s heart rate increase with the mere suggestion of what he wants to do to her. More talk like that and she might have mounted him right there in the restaurant. Talk about putting on a show. Dinner over but can they make it back to his place before things get too heated? Well you know the answer to that pretty quickly. The moment that they got into Aaron’s car it was like a ticking time bomb for when something was going to come to a head. A parking lot seems to be the best place to stop to take the edge off. They sure can work up a sweat and steam up those windows. Also seems that giving Alexis the idea of what her husband and Rhea might be up to takes her own pleasure to the max. She almost wants to out do them. I wonder whether they compare notes?

Both partners seem very in tune with each other but we follow the exploits of just Alexis and Aaron. Though from the vibe at the restaurant you are probably thinking that both couples are up to the same thing without being able to wait a moment longer. Seems only meeting once a month builds a lot of sexual tension and wanton need that needs to be released. I wonder how long it will take them to change that system to a few more times or maybe even have a swap and watch one. With something that Alexis comes out with Aaron might take her up on that – a ménage soon on the cards perhaps?

You get some heated action within this one and you can clearly see that this monthly swap is going to continue for a while to come. Maybe next time Rhea could be the one that is followed so we can see just what Richard is like when he takes charge. Interesting group dynamics with this lot and one that would be fun to follow up on.

Book Review: ‘Tension Relief’ by Ava Sterling

Title: Tension Relief – An Erotic Massage Story

Published: 15th August 2018

Publisher: Red Lace Publishing

Author: Ava Sterling

Twitter: @ava_sterling

Synopsis:

Jen always aims to please.

Working as a massage therapist, every day has its ups and downs. Sometimes she swaps dares with her friend Roxy just to pass the time. The subject that often comes up in these dares is men.

Jen knows a dare is coming, which is why she doesn’t find it odd when she receives a call out of the blue from a deep voice asking for a mobile massage appointment in his hotel room attached to the spa she works in. She jumps in with both feet. She doesn’t want to be the one to lose, after all.

While she’s setting up the massage table in the client’s hotel room, she thinks he looks familiar, but it doesn’t come to her until after the appointment is over.

Review:

A silent dare request by a friend that leads to giving a massage with a very happy ending for both involved. Magic hands needed all round to work out all that tension that both seem to hold.

So Jen has a bit of a wild friend who likes to take the lead and lay down some dares in the past to get Jen out of herself a bit. Kiss a random guy at a cinema no problem but to hook up with someone she was clearly crushing on in college she bailed on. Could another dare end up countering the first? If her imagination is anything to go by she needs it to be soon.

Both Roxy and Jen work as therapy masseuses at a hotel and lately have been getting quite a few sports players in, lots of muscles for them to work over. Though it seems Roxy has been getting more than Jen. Well that is until a client of hers, J.T., calls asking to see if Jen is free instead. Seems in Roxy giving him her number it’s also a silent dare that this time Jen doesn’t want to back out on. Well given how high her own tensions have been lately you can see why she might want to take on the challenge.

The moment the door opens she feels like she needs to pick her jaw off the floor and when he says ‘you need me naked right?’ I think she might actually need to fan herself down. The massage might start off innocent enough, well her actions might be innocent, her thoughts not so much. It doesn’t take long for that to change after hitting just the right spot on the table when leaning across all those muscles to get to some oil. Now dealing with his back is one thing, I mean he can’t see her reactions, but when he turns over I think things go from hot to an inferno with the tent he seems to hold up with the sheet. Safe to say he likes the massage she is giving and that’s just when things take a more interesting turn. She needed to talk herself into the dare at the start but the moment she sees the reaction she has on him there isn’t much that will stop her from jumping right up on that table with him – not that he minds one bit when he gets his hands on her too. She might starts things off but he sure knows how to take the lead and bring things to a climatic ending for both. All I’ll say is that is one sturdy table that can take the weight of them and what they were doing. I mean how many positions can you think of getting into on such a small surface? They could give you some pointers on not falling off too!

Another fun, fast, hot read that will keep you wondering just how wild things might get in the future. I think J.T. is going to be requesting Jen on a regular basis. Even from all her questions she couldn’t place him until the end. When she does though she needs to say a very big thank you to her friend Roxy. She clearly knows how to help a friend out.

Book Review: ‘Taught a Lesson’ by Ava Sterling

Title: Taught a Lesson: A Soroity Story

Published: 1st August 2018

Publisher: Red Lace Publishing

Author: Ava Sterling

Twitter: @ava_sterling

Synopsis:

She joined the sorority Sigma Delta only because her mom was in it when she was in college, which has turned into a tradition Violet can’t escape. Not that she minds being around a group of beautiful college students, especially considering the “experimentation” she and her female friend did growing up.

A mystery develops as she comes to find out that one of the women has been sending dirty pictures to a female user in a chatroom online. Someone else is into women in the sorority house, and Violet is determined to find out who.

She hatches a plan to find out, and it turns out to be a more pleasurable process than she imagined.

Review:

Well that’s one way to try to flush out an answer to a burning question Violet seemed to have. One everyone involved seemed to like a lot!

To be in a sorority house there has to be rules and standards to hold. It seems that if your mother donates a lot to the college though they can go out the window. Well that’s how Violet explains it to her friend Janie when she comes to see her in said sorority house. It seemed to me that Janie was the type of friend that liked to bring back memories to get Violet a little hot under the collar. I think she had a feeling of what Violet was thinking as soon as she brought up all their ‘practice sessions’ they used to have when getting ready for all their future boyfriends. I think she clocked on to how Violet may play a game to get what she wanted, especially when she got a little distracted by her scantily dressed sorority sisters. Well she did say Violet’s the reason why they got so good so maybe she thought Violet could do a bit of practicing on someone new.

Violet and her sorority sisters don’t really seem to get along. Lucy being the one in charge that, most of the time, seems to rub her the wrong way – well that might be about to change! After another heated talk about how Violet should not borrow her clothes she threatens to put her ‘flat on her back’ if she tries it again. Now after having memories of past ‘practices’ with Janie being brought to the front of her mind this statement kind of gives her a few ideas. More so when she finds out what someone in the house has been looking at online. This brings an idea to mind about having a little fun and getting the answer to who that someone might be. Thing is she doesn’t just want to test out whether it is just Lucy but also include Caroline and Nikki too. Things are about to get very interesting when this plan is put into action. A ménage a quatre is on the cards perhaps?

You have an interesting mix of characters with this one. Seems this house of sisters like to play games and aren’t afraid to get a little creative – arms, legs everywhere. Lucy is definitely the leader of that sorority house, what she says usually gets done. Caroline and Nikki just seem to follow suit but really it’s not like they hold up much of a fuss, as they seem to like what they are being told to do. Violet is just, finally, being pulled into the fold. She may actually feel like a true sorority sister now. I think her time there is going to go a lot smoother than before.
