SALEM

Just some fun. Just one night of reckless, harmless, wild fun.

That’s what I told myself the night I hooked up with quite possibly the sexiest guy I’ve ever known. Only, I didn’t want to KNOW him. Life is a series of temporary situations, or so it’s always been for me. A future revolves around the next move, but I’m still the type to live in the moment on a seldom occasion, consequences be damned.

Unless that moment happens to be unknowingly landing in bed with my brand new stepbrother. The universe is a mean, twisted jerk. And one consequence is that I have to be around him and get to know him. The worst consequence is the fact that Maverick Sterling, the infamous playboy who can’t possibly be tamed, is really hard not to want more of once you’ve had a taste. So long as I’m not stupid enough to fall in love, it shouldn’t be a big deal. Right?

MAVERICK

My life has been blissfully simple for a really long time. I have a routine. I have friends. I have family. Yet everyone seems to have less and less time, since they’re all sort of trying to be adults or what the hell ever. I blame them for the fact the only girl to ever ditch me without a backward glance is suddenly under my skin. I blame my father for the fact she’s a new fixture in my life. Not that I knew that before I got a little overly friendly with my new stepsister. I mean, what are the odds? It shouldn’t have been possible.

But it happened. It figures the one girl I can’t get out of my head is the one girl who doesn’t want to be with me. At least in my head she’s the only girl who doesn’t want to be with me, because I tend to be arrogant like that. The point is, now she’s everywhere I turn, yet she’s marking a line in the sand that she thinks I really won’t cross.

Obviously she doesn’t know me at all.

Book Review: ‘Make Me’ by C.M. Owens

Title: Make Me (The Sterling Shore Series Book 10)

Synopsis:

DALE

I’m a mature and very pragmatic person, whom others like to call boring.

At least I was…until Harley came back into town…

What do you do when a girl comes back for some petty revenge against you and seduction is part of her game?

You pretend to be a millionaire Dom, of course.

Yeah…it sounded better in theory. My execution keeps ending up in awkward messes, and this game between us gets even messier when I learn more about Harley. She’s easy to fall for, even though she’s hazardous as hell.

What happens when all the games end?

HARLEY

One simple little goal turns into one giant disaster.

On the surface, Dale Sterling seemed like an asshole from my past; the typical arrogant guy who boulders through life and anyone in his way. So a little revenge seemed plausible, considering what he did to me once upon a long time ago. In hindsight, it was immature. But revenge has kept me on top of the world since I stopped being on the bottom of everyone’s shoes, so I make no apologies for my immaturity.

But Dale is weirdly kinky…

Everything is going fine…until it gets real. Now the guy I wanted to humiliate is the same guy I’m begging my heart not to stupidly fall in love with.

Unfortunately, my heart tends to be stubborn.

Review:

Goes down as another from my 2017 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book from a series you love. The Sterling Shore Series is one very addictive one and I can’t wait for the next!

Harley did not have a very good school experience but a few things made a lasting impression on her. They made her into the person she is today and today she wants revenge for those who have wronged her. One person on that list is none other than our Dale Sterling. Things are about to get interesting with our boy Dale, the saying it’s always the quite ones comes to mind with what they soon get up to. She is going back to Sterling Shore with her head held high and a very nice bank balance due to being on hell of an app guru. She wants them all to know that she has made it when they thought of her as nothing. She’s back in Sterling Shore for revenge, what she gets is much more kinky when Dale gets her within his grasped. To help her on her way with her revenge plan though she needs a little help. That help comes in the form of Vivica, who just so happens to be a cousin of Raya’s. Loved how loyal she was with Harley, she would clearly do anything to protect her girl. A Drivel you don’t want on your bad side. Nice link back to the beginning as well as we are soon to be coming to our end with this series.

Dale has always been the quiet one who saw where everyone else was going wrong in their relationships but doesn’t always see it in his own. When he sees a blonde beauty at the bar he is all up for a little flirting. That is until she says her name ‘Harley’. That one word and he goes back to the one bad thing he did when he was younger. He wants to make amends though and seems to know her better than she would have thought. When he finds out that she is back to seek some sort of revenge on him he does something he is not proud of. He asks the most immature people he knows for advice – Mav and Corbin. Bad idea as their idea is for him to pretend he is a Dom, get him a whole room kitted out and shock her so much that she runs away screaming. Well she might run the first time but he is in for a shock of his own when she says she wants to try what he ‘likes’. If only he knew what was they would be golden. He is about to play the role of a lifetime and you can imagine that there are going to be quite a few mishaps along the way. Note to self: Dale use Google next time when trying to figure out what something is, don’t just guess. Seems he is getting into the role much easier than he thought and loving how she is with him. With everyone else’s relationship he was quick to get them to see that jumping to conclusions was never a good thing. Shame he doesn’t listen to his own advice.

On a side note I love that Harley Quinn is Harley’s favourite hero of sorts because she’s mine too! She’s so crazy bonkers in such a fun way and you can see why Harley would relate to her. Love the ending and what Dale gives her. Totally want it for myself though. Also love that you got to catch up with everybody from the series so far in this one and that Britt gets more of a presence. Can’t wait for her story, I just love what she comes out with.

This series is very, very addictive. When I get a new book I want to read it as fast as possible and then don’t at the same time. Mainly because I know I will then have to wait for the next one to come out. I really can’t wait for Mav’s story next. I want to see the woman who will turn things on its head with him. Then only a two to go after, not sure I will cope when its over. Might just have to have a yearly re-read week to get me back to the fun times had at Sterling Shore.

CAN BE READ AS A STAND-ALONE

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book by an author who uses initials in their pen name. Well we finally find out why Bella and technology don’t go hand in hand and it’s not just her. It seems a few of those naughty Sterling boys have been messing with our girl Bella but lets say fate had a hand in it as well to be able to get her talking to our boy Ethan.

Ethan’s only been back in Sterling Shore for a few weeks and already finds himself in the emergency room due to an unfortunate incident with a crazy one-night stand and a broken beer bottle. His night might just be looking up though when Bella strolls in. From the moment he sees her he is intrigued so goes full on charm. Shame its to no effect though – well almost to no effect as she rejects him after he shows her a little more than she was expecting. Well they did tell him to strip off before putting the gown on so he was being a good boy and doing what he was told. So when Bella is sorting out his cut high up on his leg her eyes get drawn to his crotch when he leans back. Yep by the piercings he has (Jacobs ladder – wowzer!) you can understand why Bella might just whimper. But she has sworn off all playboys like him and won’t be drawn into his game. Shame Ethan has no intention of listening though. It seems he actually felt her when she patted his cheek. Confused? Yep me too until later in the book, when it’s explained more though you will just want to give him a hug. Anyway this just makes her that much more appealing, he needs to see if it was a fluke because she caught him off guard or not. Seems she’s a trigger for him, one he’s going to be very pleased he met.

Bella has tried to change her way of dating due to some bad choices in her past. So finds herself on some god awful dates. They either bore her head off or turn out to be narcissistic assholes. Good job Ethan is there to help mix things up when he crashes one of them. I think the fact he hasn’t had someone turn him down before means he can’t give up the chase. So turning into full stalker mode he ends up calling his number from her phone so he can talk to her. To say she is not impressed would be an understatement – I mean she changes his name to asshole. It’s when he starts texting her that he has the pleasure of getting full Bellared (yes I decided her name can be a verb in relation to her texting) ‘stupid ducking phone!’ Love her.

It’s while he is at one of the many Sterling peeps gatherings that he finds out that Bella is part of the group, which at first makes it more interesting. Not so much though when he finds out she won’t date anyone within her circle of friends. Seems Ethan isn’t giving up, and after a very big act of kindness, Bella can’t stay away either. He’s the first person she thought of when it happened and it seems saying that was the right answer because his reaction is beyond hot. He has the muscles to hold her up and he definitely seems to prefer walls to any other surface when it comes to taking her. Not wanting to burst the bubble they have created Bella wants to keep them hidden, at least for now, not that Ethan is too happy about it. Only problem with the ‘would be’ romance is Ethan’s view on why he came back to Sterling Shore from Chicago. He took over his fathers business at 18 and has spent 10 years working his ass off. It means he has a very warped view that he missed out on all his partying years so wants to make up for lost time, something Bella isn’t keen on.

She has already done the crazy drunken years and wants to settle down. How much of his antics can she take? He seems to be to push people away without thought when he feels threatened or fear of being hurt himself. It’s this rash behaviour that Bella doesn’t want to deal with but when a shock revelation turns everything on its head she’s going to have to face it. OMG Ethan’s reaction at the hospital (won’t tell you why he’s there though) is heart wrenching. His and all their friends too. They have become a very intricate group over the years and I love that it’s getting bigger. Can’t wait to see it grow when Dale and Mav get hooked – your time is coming boys so watch out! Ethan and Bella might be toxic but in the best way. Totally made for each other. I wonder if he’s going to mention what those boys have done to her phone though or if he will let the craziness continue?

Only thing I’m disappointed in is that there wasn’t a preview of the next book at the end of this one 😦 Also got a little worried for Brin and Rye for a moment there. Glad it all worked out in a very Brin/Rye prank war kind of way though. Everyone else seemed to be going ok. Love that they are all interlinked with each other’s stories now. Poor Kode will he ever get Tria to change her mind on marriage. I have a feeling it could happen in the next one – fingers crossed! Oh and we know time has passed a bit because Tag and Ash have had their little girl Autumn, Fall for short – so sweet! The series books can all be read as standalones but to get the whole picture I would recommend reading in order, that and the series is great anyway so you should pick it up!

My life was simple… until Bo Brendon crashed into my lap. Shy girls aren’t my thing, yet somehow, she’s under my skin and in my head. It’s a f*cking nightmare. Yet it’s a nightmare I don’t want to give up.

BOLIVIA (BO)

Jax Marshall was an accident. A really sexy, smart, incredibly smooth, hot… accident. He’s the kind of guy you shouldn’t fall in love with, because he could crush you with barely any effort. Especially someone like me. Either it will be the best thing to ever happen to me, or it will be the disaster that leaves me in ruins.

I guess I’ll find out.

Review:

When a little white lie turns into the best decision you ever made. This goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book from a series that you love. This is definitely one of my favourite series and I can’t wait until they are all out and I can have a Sterling Shore re-read week to immerse myself into their world all over again.

Anyway back to the lovely Bo and her crazy sexy story with Jax. She has to be one of the funniest female characters this series has had with some of the things she comes out with – mainly in her head mind you – #savethepenguins #buttsnifer #savetheArctic. Trust me when you get to the part where she is testing something a little special on herself you will be cracking up so much people will start to stare.

The fun, quirky mentalities of twins are great throughout this book. It’s a connection that only twins can truly understand. Some of the things they do, getting one to pretend to be the other does happen. My mum is an identical twin too so every time a ‘twin thing’ was mentioned I had to get her opinion on it. Getting mistaken for each other is part of the course for identical twins but they never went to the extremes that Bo does for her sister Bora.

Now I don’t think that Bora is afraid to dump a guy, I just think that she has no feeling on it either way. Once she is done she is done and just hopes they will move on too. Thing is Bo got herself into a mess with helping out her sister on more than one occasion and now Bora expects her to do it all the time. That’s how we start, with Bo coming to break up with Jax. Only problem is that he is talking about getting ready to go on holiday in a few hours to meet his family. Now because she is the nice sister, and maybe because of the mouth watering kiss Jax just gave her, decides to go in her sisters’ place hoping that she can then switch out again soon. Nice idea but her sister has no intention of switching and now Bo is stuck on a family holiday for three weeks with a man that makes her go weak at the knees – what could possibly go wrong.

Jax had a plan to get one over on his mother by inviting Bora on holiday with them. His plan is to let her be her self absorbed self to get his mother off his back about who he dates. Only problem is that Bora seems to have had a mind transplant or body swap because its almost like she is a completely different person. Have to say I liked his inner thoughts about what could possibly be different and how. He finds out pretty quickly so decides to play a game back, thinking that Bo already is to begin with. Only problem is that she isn’t like anyone he has been with before and when all the cards are on the table he doesn’t want to just let her go.

They do have some hot electric chemistry between them when the truth is finally revealed. Three weeks on a tropical island created a perfect holiday romantic bubble between them but when the real world beckons can it really survive or will it burst.

Bora, along with the rest of her family, likes to walk all over Bo but for once she felt like someone was on her side when she was with Jax. It’s not until a moment of wrongly directed anger from him that she finally snaps and all but shuts down, pushing everyone away. Ruby is the only one Bo lets close as she is the only one who won’t judge or walk over her – a true friend. She is also the one to tell her that the calm, numb stage she is in only lasts so long and when the storm hits it will hurt, a lot. Bo is just hoping she is wrong. Jax will do anything to get his girl back. The lengths he goes to are above and beyond so you have to hope that they are enough to bring her back to were she belongs, in his arms and forever in his life.

Because this books timeline is meant to be running alongside Triple Dare you get introduced to a few new interesting characters before you come back to the real world with our favourite Sterling’s and their girls. Loved Bo’s dad, such a character and also thought Dustin was a right laugh along with Jax’s sister. Cody on the other hand was a complete asshat who just couldn’t except that his friends’ life was changing (for the better I might add) when Bo entered it. If Jax were thinking a bit clearer at the time he would have directed his anger at him for the stunt he pulls instead of at Bo. Lets hope if he pops up again he will have matured a bit.

There is nothing that I don’t love about the Sterling Shore series. I know as soon as the new one is out that I will one click buy and plough through it. Then after wish I had taken my time as it always gives a sneak peek at what is to come next. Love that it does this but also hate it a bit too as I always want/need to know what’s going to happen next and with whom. Bella and Ethan’s story is going to be so funny, I can only imagine some of the things that Bella is going to say by mistake while texting him. Like a few of the funny things that got texted throughout this one too. Can’t wait!
