They say good things come to those who wait.
My whole life has been about waiting. Playing it safe. Be the good girl, don’t color outside the lines. Put in the hard work trying to prove myself to Dad, then to my college professors, then to my boss at New World Media. Just waiting for the day when it will all pay off.
And right when it was all starting to—I finally had the house, the job, I was even thinking about getting a cat—boom!—my life explodes and suddenly now I’m here and—
“All done,” the doctor interrupts my thoughts, pulling off her gloves with a loud snap.
Even from the bed where I’m lying, my legs spread like the Thanksgiving turkey, I can hear the impatient growl of the man standing in the doorway. If you can even call him a man. More like a beast out of a friggin’ fairytale. “Well?”
Her pronouncement echoes throughout the room while the speculum is still inside me. “She’s a virgin.”
Intended for mature audience. Steamy romance with dark themes.
Full disclosure this is a story involving Master/Slave roles not Dom/Sub. The slave, or pet as he likes to call her, must submit completely and trust her Master to take care of her every need. The feeding from his hands, him leading her around, telling her what to do/not do and beyond controlling things in the bedroom department you can just about get your head around but the tampons thing I think was a step too far. I mean there’s close and then there’s too close. If you are looking for a sexy twist on the classic this could be for you. However if you are just thinking it will be a sweet Beauty and the Beast romance you should step away. The theme is there, basics with her father being in trouble, Xavier keeping her and him being a beast of a man with scars, buts that’s as far as it goes. Well he does also have a big library so that is something.
So Melanie is not having the best of days. In the wake of her fathers impending court case with him on trial with fraud she thought that would be the worst of it. Not so much when she gets fired from her job because of it. No matter how hard she might try to get them to change their minds seems she’s out and now going to be in trouble with having no income. Chances of getting another job also being very slim. So when she gets an unexpected visitor who offers her a way out you may just think she would take it. This mystery person the lawyer is representing says his client is willing to get her father out of the country and set up somewhere safe. In exchange she just has to give up a year of her life to spend with said mystery man, oh and also be the mother of his future heir he wants. You know nothing too crazy right? To say she sees red and wants to throw him out the nearest window would be an understatement but he seems to think she will come around in the end. Seems he was right to think that when she gets home and realizes just how much trouble her father is really in, her also with death threats coming in from some very bad people. So she does the unthinkable, she calls that number and signs on the dotted line thinking it’s just a year and a baby (ok breath Melanie), what’s the worst that could happen? Well…
So her father gets carted off to place unknown for his safely while she is transported to god knows where to meet her mystery man. She gets a shock and some second thoughts when she meets him. Not just from his scars but from the size of him and his persona. Dominance pulses off him and she can do nothing but shrink into herself. As the blurb suggests the first thing that happens is she is examined. Seems mystery man is very pleased that she is a virgin, something she is now a bit scared of thinking of the size of him. For the first few days she just thinks he is going to pounce on her with no say so but he just vanishes. Seems to put her into a false sense of calm because he was just waiting until he had proof her father was someone safe. This is his green light but she just wants to slow things down and actually talk. Before that moment I think she thought this baby was going to be made with a turkey baster, um wrong. From this moment the energy between them changes. He knows she is a virgin but doesn’t say anything to put her at ease it’s more about knowing her body and reading her responses to him, which she has plenty. This first time is very much forced submission, something she never thought she would want to do but can’t seem to, or want to, say no.
It’s from this moment on that things start to change for her and not in a great way to begin with. Melanie doesn’t want to lose her own independence and feels she is losing herself the longer she is with Xavier. He is asking things of her that she doesn’t want to do, well at first anyway, submitting and being fed from the floor by his feet being a few. He wants to become her Master and have control over her to keep her safe but he doesn’t always go about it the right way. Perhaps if he had explained why he is the way he is sooner things may have started differently, you know without feeling the need to punish her by putting her in a dog cage outside when she broke a rule, but that’s his shortcomings. One thing that is clear is that he wants her to come to him. He needs to break her down to see whether he would be able to keep her. He runs a horse sanctuary and sometimes has wild horses he needs break so is using the same tactics on her. Not that she realizes this straight away. One thing he makes clear is that after that first time if she wants him again she is going to need to beg. He has ways to get her to the point of madness, as everything is so new to her. He does get a bit creative with what to get her ‘off’ with when refusing her what she is slowly craving. The longer this progresses the more she starts to crave his way of life he has made for her. Though on more than one occasion she does think her feelings could be that of Stockholm which is worrying but she made her bed and seems to like having Xavier lying in it.
Xavier calls Melanie Precious in moments when he feels she is slowly starting to let her guard down and let him in. This is a bit of a clue to how he feels about her even if he can’t say it yet but his own demons our holding him back from seeing where it could go and if he could really keep her for good. Trust has to go both ways and until that happens they can’t move forward.
