New Adult Romance

Blurb:

A former boyband star gets a little musical education from a sexy violinist. Will they stay in different keys or find a way to play in tune?

The first time I saw her I knew I wanted her. And when she talked music with me? I didn’t stand a chance.

When she found out my secret past—that I used to be a famous pop star—I expected her to fangirl all over me. Because even though it’s been years since people cared about us, a ton of girls who grew up with our music still go nuts when they find out who I am.

Not Gabby. She was more interested in our future than my past.

I tried to stay away at first. She’s so young, eighteen to my twenty-two. Just starting out in college while I’m getting ready to leave.

But I couldn’t leave her alone. Her passion, her drive, her intoxicating combination of innocence and audacity. And that sexy little Texas twang. Damn. I was sunk from the start.

With her help, I started writing better songs than ever. And when a video of me playing a new song landed on YouTube and went viral, my life exploded in a return to fame I never thought I wanted.

How can I pass up this chance now that it’s being offered to me again? But if I take it, will Gabby and I be able to survive?

If you like rock star romances and sexy musicians, or you’ve ever been curious about what happens to a one-hit wonder after the fame fades, don’t miss the first installment in this fresh take on a familiar trope. Full of sizzling chemistry and heartfelt emotion, grab this new adult pop star romance now!

Excerpt:

The final notes of Jonathan’s song fade out as he stares at me, his face lit up from the inside, like a kid on Christmas morning who’s gotten everything on his list.

His song was beautiful the first time that he played it, about a love lost and found, full of nostalgia and longing.  But with the changes?  It’s so much more now.

He sets his guitar down and stands, leaning over me, brushing against my shoulder.  Tapping at the paper on the piano’s music stand, he says, “Okay, let’s write this down so it’s all there.”  He hums through the bridge again, and when he gets to the first part he changed, he looks around.

Handing him the pencil, I hold my breath at the quick smile he flashes my way.  I think about moving, getting off the bench and out of the way, but the way the piano is wedged into the room and where he’s standing, I’m pretty much trapped.

And really, I like being this close to him.  I’m enjoying the brush of his side against my shoulder, his arm against mine as he reaches past me to hold the paper still while he erases the notes I drew and draws in the new ones, trying to copy my style of thick slanted lines for note heads.  He scribbles in the names of the chords underneath, then stares at the page for a moment, like he’s soaking it all in.

That smile is on his face again when he turns to look at me.  He’s so happy.  His eyes examine mine, skate over my face, and settle on my lips before dragging back up to my eyes again.

And he’s right there.  So close that if I lean toward him just an inch or two, our lips would meet.  I’ve wondered what it would feel like to kiss him since the night of the recital.

Without really thinking about it, I give in to the temptation, leaning in those scant inches.  I see his face turn serious in the second before our lips meet, and I close my eyes to savor his soft, full lips on mine.

He kisses me back.  His lips press against mine, but are gone all too soon.  He pulls back, looking at me, that same serious expression on his face, but it doesn’t tell me anything.

Then his hand slides through my hair, cradling the back of my head, and he kisses me again, his other arm going around my waist.  Almost before I can register what’s happening, he’s urged me off the tiny piano bench and onto his bed, with me on my back and him off to the side, his one hand still under my head, while the other caresses my side, down over my hip to my thigh, and back up again.

Excerpt

With a quick squeeze of his ass, she let him go, hopping up on the counter to watch him make the cookies, reaching across to stick her finger in the bowl to sneak a taste once he’d gotten all the ingredients mixed.Narrowing his eyes, he pointed at her with the spoon.  “Watch it.  I might have to punish you for that.”

“Oh, are you going to spank me?”

He chuckled, low and growly, shaking his head.  “Uh-uh.  I was thinking more like a thorough tongue-lashing.”

She shivered, rubbing her thighs together.  Then she leaned forward deliberately, her shirt gaping to tease him with a glimpse of her breasts, and she scooped up as much dough as she could on her index finger before bringing it to her mouth, licking it from palm to tip before sticking it in her mouth and sucking.

And the semi he’d been sporting since she got there turned into a raging hard-on.

He let out a groan, and she smiled around her finger, sucking on it and drawing it out from between her lips with a pop.

“I think I can get behind a tongue-lashing.”

“Coming right up.”  Reaching down, he adjusted himself, her eyes zeroing in on his actions, her tongue darting out to lick her lips.  “But you’ll have to wait until I get the first batch of cookies in the oven.”

“So mean.  Making me wait like this.”

He laughed, enjoying the verbal foreplay as much as the physical kind.  The cookies were irregular in size, but he couldn’t care less right now, his normal desire for precision swamped by his desire for her.  All he cared about was feeling her thighs around his head, her lips around his cock, her pussy gripping him as she came.  Fuck the damn cookies.  The only reason he went through with it was because he knew she was suffering as much as he was, maybe more, and the anticipation only heightened the release when it came.

Excerpt

Soon, they were both involved in the game, throwing their whole bodies into turns, elbowing each other on accident, then on purpose, laughing and dueling for position.  Since he was bigger and heavier, he won more often than not, but Elena knew how to use her sharp little elbows to her advantage, probably the result of growing up with a younger brother.  He didn’t have a sister, but he had friends who did, and some of their older sisters were just as rough as he was on his little brother.  Clearly, Elena fell into that category of older sister. After one elbow contest where Elena was losing, both with her elbow, and her narrow lead on screen, she hopped up and sat down on his lap, knocking the controller out of his hands, making his character veer off course and crash.  She braced her feet on the coffee table, pushing back to smash him as far into the couch as she could, pushing the coffee table away as she did so.

Wrapping his arms around her, he caught her before she could fall off his lap, trapping her against his chest, pulling her back, and rolling sideways so he pinned her on the couch.  She laughed, squirming under him, and tossed aside the controller, blowing out a breath to try to dislodge the ends of her ponytail caught in her mouth.

She slapped his tricep lightly.  “Move your arm!  I can’t believe you made me crash!”

He laughed, moving his arm, but brushing the hair off her face before she could.  Her laughter died, and she stilled under him, as though she suddenly realized how she was laying, pinned under him.

His breath caught at the look on her face, equal parts memory and desire as her eyes flitted over his features and settled on his lips.  “You made me crash first.”

Her eyes went back to his, and her smile was dazzling, finally reaching her eyes and driving out the perpetual sadness.  “I was just trying to win.”

Now his gaze settled on her lips, lush and red, still smiling, though less widely now.  He remembered the taste of those lips.  Had been wanting to taste them again ever since.

Slowly, he lowered his head to hers, giving her plenty of time to turn away if she wanted.  But she didn’t.  Instead, she closed the distance, fastening her mouth to his, her tongue plunging into his mouth.

Excerpt:

He finished scraping the windows with a smile on his face, and when he got in he wrapped an arm around her, pulling her across the bench seat and into his kiss. It was a strange juxtaposition of hot and cold—his skin chilled from being outside, his mouth hot against hers, his fingers freezing as they teased under her sweater inside her unbuttoned coat, heat pooling between her thighs.

She broke away gasping. “Let’s go home.”

Lance smiled, a devilish glint in his eye, like he knew exactly why she wanted to go home. He probably did. They knew each other so well, even though they’d only met six months ago. No one knew her better than him, not even Megan.

Instead of scooting back to her side of the bench seat, she fished the lap belt for the middle out of the crack where it met the back, wanting to stay close to Lance. He glanced down at her before putting the car in reverse and maneuvering them out of the parking lot. “I love you.”

She lay her head on his shoulder, enjoying the feel of his muscles working as he turned the steering wheel hand over hand. “I love you, too.”

They didn’t speak on the twenty minute drive home. Abby wanted to ask about his family’s reactions to her leaving yesterday and now him leaving today, but fear of what they might’ve said kept her silent. She didn’t want any negativity to ruin their reunion, even if they hadn’t been apart long. It felt like it had been ages since they’d been together. So talk of families, both families, could wait until they were home and fully reunited.

She could tell Lance had the same idea when he parked his suitcase just inside their door, dropping his backpack next to it, and immediately went to her, his hands going to her hips, his mouth melding with hers. She hadn’t even gotten her coat off yet, and his hands slid inside it, moving over her back, down to her ass and up her back again, this time under her sweater, his hands still chilly against her bare skin.

Her hands made a similar path over him, first up his chest, then down, pulling his sweatshirt up at his sides until her hands encountered bare skin. He broke away first, pushing back from her, his eyes glinting. “Bedroom. Naked. Now.”

Just when Lance thought he’d broken through Abby’s defenses, she puts up another one in his path. Pushing him away, she insists on dealing with her family herself, a bad idea in his mind. Will proposing reassure her that he’s in it for the long haul? Or just make everything exponentially worse?

The fourth installment in the Players of Marycliff University series follows the developing relationship of Lance and Abby from Summer Fling.  It’s a story about family, trust, and where you should turn when life gets messy. Excerpt

“Lance.” His name came out a gasp, and she felt him smile against her skin, but he didn’t let up. Instead, his hands moved to the button of her jeans, which he undid before she registered what he was doing. He tugged her pants down along with her panties, his hands now going to her ass, his fingers reaching between her thighs, teasing and stroking, but not where she wanted. She tried to widen her stance, but her jeans around her knees wouldn’t let her, and she whimpered her distress.

The low chuckle that came from Lance’s throat told her he knew exactly what he was doing. But he didn’t torture her for much longer. Wrapping his arms around her, he lay back, taking her with him onto the bed, rolling them so he was propped over her, kissing her mouth again, his hands caressing every inch of naked skin he could reach.

Abby kicked off her jeans, spreading her legs for him, sighing in relief when he rubbed her there at last, dipping inside her and spreading her wetness around her clit in lazy circles. Sometimes things started out slow and languid, but by the time they got naked, it turned into fierce, driving hunger. Not tonight. This was about connection and love, reassurance that they were still okay in spite of all the outside forces currently conspiring against them. One shining moment that Abby knew she would hold inside her to keep her grounded when things with her family got overwhelming. And they would. Soon.
