A Sexy Sizzling Vampire Paranormal Romance

Dani Malloye hates the holidays, and with good reason. Though her best friend tries to force the Christmas spirit on her with giant Santas and elves that light up, she’d rather spend her time doing what she does best—enforcing paranormal law on the streets of Chicago. Nothing like a little evil bloodshed to lighten the mood. Besides, work means she can spend time with her sexy boss, Cornell Sutton. Too bad Cornell is uptight, her new neighbor, and a vampire. Everyone knows slayers and vampires just don’t mix. Or do they?

Review:

Having the hots for your neighbour is one thing, throw in the fact that he’s not only your boss but a vampire too and Dani might have some problems. Main one being that she is a natural born slayer. She only goes after the ones that go bad and trust me from her past she has every right to hate them all. Though you can’t put them all under the same brush. Secret crush that gets harder to hide whenever she is near him — hello fantasies take me away!

She may think he wouldn’t care with being such a hardass boss (even though she can always tell when his eyes are on her, which seems to be increasing) but things aren’t as they seem. Can we say brooding vampire anyone? Funny thing is that boss man Cornell has a secret himself. One he wants to stop hiding and make a reality — with a little push from Finn. Can this Christmas give them both the present they have been longing for?

Loved their friends Finn and Mimi. Quirky characters that seem to bring a smile when near — especially with Mimi’s Christmas decoration overload — and they both know just the buttons to push to get results. Chemistry between Cornell and Dani is good. You know how much they hold back not wanting to take the leap due to thinking the other might not want them. One sure way to push the idea though would be to use a little vamp-magik. That sure gets the pulses racing — clue to what they both really want and a dream to come true perhaps? You get a bit of background as a set up for the world they are in but would have liked to know more about their lives. Might get expanded in rest of series. Quick short read that leaves you wanting more.

Prospect Springs Shifters

Paranormal Shifter Romance

Sheriff Jonathan MacSweeny is in charge of keeping the peace in Prospect Springs. Frontier living isn’t what it used to be. It’s hard to survive in the New Old West and it’s even harder when your area doesn’t exactly embrace supernaturals–and you howl at the moon. That being said, he’s good at his job and has a reputation with the ladies. When he learns his childhood sweetheart is to be married off to the town sleazebag, he goes in guns blazing to see to it she’s his. Problem is, Molly isn’t the same girl he remembers from ten years prior. Now she’s a gun-toting, foul-mouthed, vixen with a badge of her own.

Special Marshal Molly Cogan never planned to set foot back in Prospect Springs. When her friend gets the harebrained idea to steal her identity in an attempt to protect her from the bounty the outlaws have on her head, Molly finds herself standing right smack dab in the middle of chaos–or home in her case. It isn’t long before Jonathan is there, flashing that famous MacSweeny boy smile and tempting her in ways she wasn’t prepared for. This heart-hardened Marshal has her work cut out for her if she plans to face her past fears and her past sweetheart.

Review:

Doesn’t fit into one genre but many with a little bit of everything. Futuristic, post apocalyptic, shifter paranormal, western with some hot and heavy passion thrown in for good measure.

When Jonathan learns Molly is coming back to town and about to be married off by her father to the worst person possible he knows he has to stop it to protect her from the monster Gerald is. He seems to just be winging it without much of a plan and only his brother and cousin for back up. Good job he didn’t really have a plan because once he gets to the bar it would have been thrown out the window anyway when outlaws turn up seeking vengeance against the one he wants to save.

Turns out our girl Molly can take care of herself. Away for ten years after a very traumatic event she came back stronger and sharper than any of them would have thought. She is now a Special Marshall who takes out wanted paranormals and it seems the ones that don’t like this have put a bounty on her head. When outlaws turn up at the bar all hell breaks loose, more so when ‘her’ Jonathan gets caught in the crossfire. She may think him lost but the secret he carries might just come in handy with keeping him alive.

Even with bullets flying being close together after all this time can’t stop the hidden passion coming to the surface. Just got a few things to sort out first. Check list: outlaws to take care of, recovery, binding yourself to someone, breaking a married contract, that sort of thing. So not too much then!

Took a little while to get my head round what kind of era it was set in but in the end I just went along for the ride. A bit of hot fun that has a lot of asskicking to keep you entertained. Would have liked more of a comeuppance for certain characters but that might come later in series. Supporting characters were interesting and main ones had some chemistry.

King, King, Goose?

A Realm of the Dragon Shifters Short Story

As a dragon shifter and king of his people, King Najarni wants to make his lovely wife happy. Her human ways are a mystery to him. Her Earthly customs and holidays are something he knows little about. When his trusted guards return from the human realm, having mastered the art of Christmas, he knows his queen will be overjoyed.
At least, that was the plan.

Review:

Review up late but goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book set at Christmas time.

Talk about a Christmas to remember! Najarni, the dragon shifter King, wishes to make his human wife, Tara, happy and will do anything to make it so. He knows how hard it was to give up her world and customs with coming to the dragon shifter realm. One she never knew even existed. Seems Tara got a shock when Najarni spotted her and knew she was to be his. Sweeping her off her feet to claim her quite literally and take her back home with him. Three years on she couldn’t be happier but always gets somber around her Christmas time. So plan of action for Najarni was to send his finest warriors to the human realm to learn all the customs of Christmas to give her the best surprise yet.

Things don’t go quite to plan though. Firstly ‘The Roger’ must not be harmed; this goose isn’t getting cooked. Next we have carols being sung with a difference (an oomph being a key factor in their moves and choice of words) and then you have a gift that really should have been opened in private. These warriors really should have checked where they got their information!

Entertaining all the same as one calamity seems to lead to the next. Think Tara’s sides will be hurting by all the laughing she does – even funnier as they don’t realise what they are doing wrong. Fun interpretations of Christmas classics it seems. It will sure be a crazy Christmas celebration to remember. Let’s see what next year brings.

Free short read that was a nice stopgap between books to give you a bit of a laugh with the capers these dragon shifters can get into. Who would have thought being chased by a goose would cause them to get in a flap. Tara got her Christmas wish and I’m thinking an even better present later that night.
