When an injury puts paid to Flynn Black’s professional fighting career, he retreats to his hometown to lick his wounds. Angry and bitter at the loss of the only thing he’s ever known, he withdraws from the world, becoming as cold and aloof as the Colorado mountains that surround his home. But then he discovers the one thing that he wants more than fighting. He knows he’s going to have to make some changes – and he’s going to need help.
No one is more surprised than the perfectly poised Molly McIntosh when Flynn Black – her reclusive neighbor – comes to her with an unusual request. He’s decided he needs help becoming more … civilized, and that Molly is just the woman for the job. Flynn is as coarse as Molly is refined, as foul-mouthed as she is cultivated, yet there’s something about the prickly ex-fighter that intrigues her. He’s a challenge she can’t resist. She thinks her privileged upbringing has prepared her for anything, but it never prepared her for her growing feelings for the surprisingly sensitive man that lurks beneath Flynn’s hard exterior – a man she knows can never be hers.
A sweet spicy read to chill out with. Sparks flying from the get go from these two opposites, even if they try and hide that fact from each other.
An ex professional fighter and an English Rose coming together in the most unlikely of situations. That being when said ex professional fighter Flynn decides to start a bar brawl and Molly our English Rose walks right up to him and tells him its time to go home. Stranger still that he listens. This then starts a bit of a pattern in that whenever Flynn gets himself into a situation no one else can handle Molly is called to take him home, as she seems to be the only person he will listen to. You can tell that this is starting to get old and things need to change if Flynn wants to have a real social life without drama.
Flynn knows that he has been in a downward spiral since having to retire from professional fighting. Clearly not handling it well by always starting fights. Nothing seems to be going his way but it takes one night to make him see that things need to change. To help him with said change he enlists Molly to be his guide of sorts to becoming a functioning human being who might get the person he has started to see in a new light. Thing is with Molly helping him start to be a better person she starts to wish he was doing these changes for her and not some mystery women.
Things aren’t always as they seem and everyone has their own baggage that they are working through. If you can get through it to the other side you might just find exactly what you have been looking for all along.
