Synopsis:

Once unleashed, a witch’s carnal curiosity knows no bounds…

Fleeing from those with unscrupulous interest in her magic, Maisie Taskill’s goal is to find safety in the highlands of Scotland, with her kin. In order to gain passage from London to her homeland she plans to win over a rugged sea captain with the only currency she has: her virginity. With her enemies on her heels, Maisie has never needed a hero more. Captain Roderick Cameron might be her man.

Maisie submits to Roderick’s raw sexuality in search of protection, but their initial attraction grows into unbridled desire, unleashing devastating powers within her. Then the journey takes a dangerous turn, because the superstitious crew are unhappy at having a woman on board.

With Maisie’s wealthy sponsor giving chase, Roderick must stay one step ahead of the British Navy before Maisie’s seductive magic causes a full-scale mutiny. He may believe he has full command of his ship, but with a potent witch aboard he’s about to get much more than he bargained for.

Please note: This is a paranormal, historical, erotic romance novel, an adult title featuring explicit language and scenarios appropriate to the historical setting. Previously published with a different cover.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book with magic. We finally get the see the last missing Taskill sibling, Maisie, who makes an interesting first impression on our pirate Captain Roderick Cameron.

Maisie needs to escape London from her guardian, Cyrus Lafayette, and get back to her kin in Dundee. Her only option is to propose a bargain with the Captain of the Libertas ship, Roderick Cameron. That being something she wants to lose on her terms, her virginity. She knows that once given she will be able to embrace her powers fully, something she may soon need if Cyrus gets to her. He wants her powers but more than that he wants her, something she is very against. With dangers now following she has to wonder if the Captain is the best choice. Only one more like but could she cause more trouble for him when she gets on board?

Funny how Maisie is a bit shocked at how much she likes the captains rugged appearance compared to the gentlemen she grew up around. Perhaps it’s that his features remind her of people from her homeland with him being a Scot. So you can see how quickly she would be drawn to him and feel a connection. Might also have something to do with being able to sense her twin Jessie again. Everything happens for a reason so she’s just got to hope that this is meant to be.

Roderick waste no time in wanting to claim his reward she offered as soon as possible and after one kiss Maisie starts to feel the need herself. Nerves to start with but a longing for more soon follows. Her mother was right all those years ago when she said that a witch would always feel more connected and stronger when passion is fulfilled. She might have her fill on the voyage over but plans to leave him as soon as they land in Dundee. Will she really want to leave by then? Or better yet, will Roderick be willing to let her go? A passionate connection forming while being kept in close quarters, soon followed by a protective one too. Good thing too when danger starts following. More so as her powers increase – mainly by controlling the elements – the longer she is with Roderick. With a ship full of watchful eyes though she has to be careful not to be seen casting, the last thing she needs is someone crying witch.

With this book we get a few flash backs to key moments in Maisie’s life. We see the day her mother was put to death for witchcraft, while her brother was taken away, and Jessie and her were made to watch. It was here that Cyrus and his wife Beth took her. Now Beth might have wanted her as a daughter but Cyrus’s motives were for something else entirely. You see how he wouldn’t be happy about her disappearance, willing to do anything to get her back. With the flashbacks to when Maisie was a child you can see how long the manipulation went on and how long it took her to see his true motives with his magic lessons with her. How long can she out run monster that wishes to claim her and her magic? With her powers getting stronger he will soon learn that she isn’t so helpless anymore. Choppy waters ahead as dangers follow makes her wonder if she will ever get back to her kin. If so, can she keep her captain with her in the process or will be forever be called back to the sea?

Another fun, heated passion filled read with these Taskill witches. Maisie might have been late to the passion party but her and Roderick soon made up for lost time. Great series with magic, witches, danger, intrigue and of course lots of passion twisted together for a great trilogy. The witches of Scotland are a force to be reckoned with. Kin brought back home where gifts are seen more freely but must always keep a watchful eye on those that might cause trouble. Powerful witches pack a punch though so trouble should beware.

THE LIBERTINE.

St Andrews, Scotland: 1715. His witchcraft could save her from ruin, or guide her swiftly to it…

Lennox Taskill is a rogue, a seducer, and a powerful witch. He has seen his kind scorned and persecuted, and hunts endlessly for his sisters, Jessie and Maisie. His only other loyalty is to his coven, who he wants to take north to safety in the highlands, as soon as he reunites with his sisters. Lennox’s disdain for humanity is sealed by the searing memory of his mother burning at the stake. So when the wife of a wealthy local landlord comes seeking his help through magic, the beguiling Chloris Keavey presents Lennox with his greatest opportunity for distraction…and revenge.

Chloris is in danger of being turned out by her heartless husband because she hasn’t provided him an heir. She vows to find a way through witchcraft, but soon surrenders to Lennox’s seductive magic in more ways than one. Her desire for Lennox overwhelms her, and her fragile heart is at risk. This is a paranormal, historical, erotic romance novel set in Scotland.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Challenge – A book about witches.

Chloris Keavey is in trouble and she fears the only way out of it, or rather to solve her problem, is to go an unconventional route in the way of seeing a witch. She needs to become pregnant or she fears her husband will cast her out for not giving him what he wants. It also soon becomes clear that her life might depend on it – scars tell a torrid story of her married life. She needs help with her fertility, and after talking to a maid in her cousin Tamhas’s household while she’s there, she heads out to contact a supposed witches coven. She hopes to find a mature woman leader who can help her, with herbs or perhaps a spell with being desperate, but finds herself in front of a dangerously handsome man instead. His features alone give her a clear impression that the rumours of witches carnal desire nature, due to practicing their craft, being very much true. The heat coming off both of them with barely a word spoken is nothing compare to the spark she feels when he touches her bare hand.

Lennox is a seducer to the max and is intrigued by Chloris right from the start. He doesn’t think for a moment that she’s barren, more so that it’s her husband. If she comes back to him, after her feeling a small measure of his power, it might intrigue him enough to want to help. Women come to him often to lie on their backs freely but Chloris would be very different. One touch of her hand and he knows he can trust her. In his eyes she’s a woman who hasn’t yet been truly awoken to her sensual nature. Something he wants to help with.

Lennox has two goals in life, to find his lost sisters Jessie and Maisie and to help his people that are being persecuted by validating them. It seems that when he fails to move forward on either front his boredom kicks in, which can lead him into trouble. Chloris seems to be a good distraction. He might want to help her out in a small way to start but longs to seduce her much more.

Seems Lennox and Tamhas have a bit of old tension between them. I feel, at first, that he kind of wanted to help Chloris – mainly by seducing her – so that it would get back to Tamhas. But he should be careful as Tamhas is just looking for a reason to cry ‘witch’ with anyone associated with Lennox. Right from the start you get the vibe that Tamhas can’t be trusted. Something Chloris takes too long to see. She was always just a pawn to be used when he couldn’t get what he wanted from her. Lennox must be wary to protect the people in his coven, and soon Chloris too.

There are fun times to be had at the market. When chaos distracts others she feels stillness at her back knowing Lennox is there. He say’s he’ll do the ritual to help her so needs to come to the house in the dead of night, but only if she gives him a sign she wants him to. Seems she can still feel his touch on her hand from the night before. Perhaps it’s his way to infuse heated passion into her from a distance? It all seems to lead to the first ritual. Magic and passion infused as one. Well that’s one way to get heated and feel the touch of magic caress your skin. Well magic and Lennox that is. The ritual is the first of many; well that’s what Lennox is hoping for. He asks her to meet him the morning after in the woods just as the light is forming so that nature’s magic is at its highest point. This soon leads to fun times in the forest when he starts to awaken her true self fully with the feel of magic, and Lennox, all around her. He is definitely a master seducer and Chloris is in his sights to surrender to him.

It might start out as a magical ritual but it soon turns into a passionate love affair – very spicy between them. Feelings are soon creeping in too. Can Lennox see what she really means to him to save her from the path she is on? He is always the saviour it seems. Well he tries to be anyway. He has his coven he protects, kin but not family. He will always be looking for his sisters to bring them home. Now he has Chloris and as the connection between them builds so does the risk of discovery. He needs to protect her from dangers closer to home. People are hunting witches, Tamhas at the lead of that one. Can he out run them?

Fun witchy goings on with the Taskill family and Lennox sure has some power behind him. Don’t get in his way when someone he loves is in danger. A family is slowly coming together, new non-magical partners too, but one still left to find. Let’s see what it takes to find her so they can all be safe in the Highlands. Loved the ending, it really picked up then. Shows how everything was meant to follow a certain path to finding what, or rather who, he has been searching for. Things happen for a reason so they all need to listen more to what their magic is telling them. Hopefully it will help guide them all home.

80,000 words in length, contemporary erotic romance.

Please note: this novel has been previously published with an alternative cover. This title contains explicit language, frequent graphic m/f sex scenes and a small amount of f/f content.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2018 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book by a female author. Seems Abby’s way of getting herself geared up to do something is to dare herself. When she meets Zac for the first time she has quite a few banked to follow through with the chemistry bubbling between them.

So the chemistry between Abby and Zac when they first meet could be called electric. He holds the lift for her and while first looks get both their attentions it’s the fact that another couple in their are getting a bit frisky that seems to heat things up. Seems her looking at them and then seeing him looking at her watching them is turning them both on to no end. Her floor arrives and she thinks the charge between them will end. Not so much when he gets off after her to deliver some papers. Now here you would think she’d say who she is and what she does but as the result usually intimidates men she likes she says she’s a new receptionist. He seems interested all the same, enough to give her his card for somewhere new to check out called The Hub. Now he’s made the impression he’s just the delivery guy so this misdirection of jobs does go both ways. Could another chance meeting be on the cards to sort things out?

Seems the papers were from Zac’s mother for her investment package trying to be pulled together by the company. She wants him to take over from her now she’s retired but he’s not too keen with his own business starting. Well that is until he sees a certain face within the company brochure that is. Seems Abby may have lied but he doesn’t know why. She’s now looking after the account and he can’t figure out if she is playing some kind of angle to get ahead. He needs trust but trust is earned. Well it should be anyway but our girl Abby seems to feel the pull for Zac too much to step back and question things straight off.

She and her friend Marcy go to a show at The Hub – one that starts to awaken inner desires she never knew she had – and bumps into him again. He all but insists they should meet again and it doesn’t take long for Abby to crave him enough to distraction by returning the next night. Seems she gets what she came for, him too, but its not enough to fuel their need for each other. One taste was never going to be enough with these two. He wants the truth but goes about it wrongly when getting his friend Nathan to look into her life by following her. The longer they are together the harder the tension bubbles with him as he has dug himself a hole by not saying who he really is and how they are now connected.

Loved the fun that Zac and Abby had in Paris though. A romantic place to explore, along with how they feel about each other, where they go forward and how fun it is to open yourself to new pleasures. Its like Zac wanted to do everything he could think of to show her how he feels knowing that at any moment it could come crashing down.

Seems they aren’t the only ones being dragged into a world of fun and games with a couple of lies thrown in for good measure. When Nathan looks into Abby he goes to her office and bumps into Suzanne. He’d usually be the one to pick up a woman but seems the tables have turned and she’s the one looking for control. But by what they get up to later that night I don’t think he minds one bit.

Thought Ed was a bit funny at the end with how he almost wanted Abby to be broken hearted that that he’d got with someone else. Then the confused face he has when he still doesn’t get that she really has no feelings on the matter either way. Now Abby’s boss Tom on the other hand was just a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen. What a creep! Thought the part with her friend Marcy, with how they progress when talking about how hot and bothered Zac makes her, was completely unnecessary and just felt a bit randomly placed. They could have still talk but didn’t really need to go further.

Double dare this girl and she’s likely to do anything, seems to be her thing. Zac certainly knows how to bring out her creative sexual side. He’s more than happy to oblige. It’s just the elephant in the room that’s going to cause a bit of chaos. Lets see how it pans out.

Book Review: ‘Trading Hearts’ by Saskia Walker

Title: Trading Hearts: Boxed Set

Published: 29th August 2016

Author: Saskia Walker

Twitter: @saskiawalker

Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/author/show/104558.Saskia_Walker

Synopsis:

In her master’s arms she becomes pleasure incarnate… Naomi Kildare, a young Scottish fashion designer, travels to London to meet a renowned fashion buyer, but when the buyer is called away she meets Lucas Eaglestone instead.

Lucas is tall, dark, and masterful – and he wants Naomi. He is a direct man, and he asks Naomi to surrender to him, totally. Lucas quickly unveils Naomi’s true nature and at his hands she experiences sexual pleasures beyond her wildest dreams. She is enthralled by his physical and emotional claim on her, but she isn’t willing to sell her own dreams in exchange for a decadent life as his willing submissive.

Lucas wants Naomi more than anything and he would pull the stars from the sky for her if she would agree to accept them. He vows to win her, but first he has to make some big changes to prove to her that their Dom/sub symbiosis is precious and worth fighting for. Together they could be the perfect match but trading hearts is never that simple.

Review:

Goes down as another off my 2017 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A trilogy (The Buyer, The Seller and The Deal). Three for the price of one and just getting hotter the further you go, so hold on for a fun ride.

The Buyer:

Naomi is in fashion and has a bespoke clothing design shop in Edinburgh. To get her store more exposure she needs the help of an advertiser so heads on down to London to see the buyer Georgio at Eaglestone Agency to see if they would be interested in helping her build her companies brand. A family matter seems to keep Georgio away but when a certain mystery man in reception, one she can’t take her eyes off, steps in to hear her pitch things start to look up. Takes her a while before she realizes that this mystery man is none other than the head of the company she went to see, Lucas Eaglestone. Things might just start to get complicated.

One look and you can see the chemistry between them, which only builds the longer the meeting progresses. Seems its not just Naomi who is entranced by his presence, as she is the first person to make him think twice about in a long time. She can almost feel the dominance coming off him with how he acts around her. What she thought might scare her off only gets her more excited the longer the meeting goes. Which is then making her second guess herself as she is meant to have her business head on not her libido one. After the meeting he insists on taking her to dinner. She knows the minute she accepts where it will end but she can’t seem to deny him, or herself, as she knows it will be good. And good it is but in a completely new way for her. He might have been able to see her willingness to submit but it’s still raw and intense for her. He likes to have control in all things but can sometimes take it a step too far when trying to mix business and pleasure together.

The Seller:

So thinking his contract has an ulterior motive Naomi high tails it back to Edinburgh thinking to never see Lucas again. Gets a shock when she finds him at her shop door then. Planes trump trains every time it seems. He is willing to do whatever it takes to make her see he wants her alone. He’s going to need to pull out a few stops when his ex Clara makes an appearance because she sure knows how to push peoples buttons.

The Deal:

Seems Naomi can’t catch a break when it comes to Lucas’ ex Clara. Always wanting to make a scene no matter what. The more time she spends with him the more she submits to his will and its fear of losing herself and her goal that makes her want to pull back. Well she might say she wants to leave when things get heated but Lucas can read her so well that he always knows what she really wants. Great at giving it to her too! In the bedroom department – or wherever they might happen to be when horny – they work but outside is where the issues arise. If he wants to keep her he needs to stop trying to control everything and communicate. Otherwise he might lose her forever.

Book Review: ‘Sorceress’ by Saskia Walker

Title: Sorceress

Published: 30th June 2012

Author: Saskia Walker

Twitter: @saskiawalker

Goodreads: www.goodreads.com/author/show/104558.Saskia_Walker

Synopsis:

Their love affair is forbidden, dangerous, and unstoppable.

The Empress Elishiba has vowed to protect her people, even if it means marrying an enemy. But when the mysterious man known as Amshazar arrives as a spokesman for her future husband, her passion is ignited. Amshazar is an attractive and powerful man who is rumored to be a sorcerer, and he is allied to her enemy. Consorting with him would be disastrous. Why then does she let him arouse her and distract her from her goal?

Amshazar is a gifted magi and an envoy of the gods. Lusting after the Empress Elishiba wasn’t part of his plan, and yet he cannot resist. Their connection is vital, their desire undeniable—but their forbidden affair soon captures them in a web of danger, a web where magic and romance weave their own vibrant and inexorable threads. As the enemy seeks to destroy Elishiba and all she stands for, Amshazar must fulfill his duty and empower her as a powerful Sorceress, whatever the cost.

Review:

Intriguing read right from the start with many twists and turns to keep you hooked until the end. Seems Aleem and Karseedia are two very different lands run in two very different ways. One run for the love of its people where an Empress would do whatever it takes to keep peace and the other by fear. The Aleemite way of life focuses on all things pleasure, you should know all about it, no matter your status. Karseedia, however, is a treacherous country ruled by an evil hand hiding not so far in the background. I know which one I would rather be in.

Empress Elishiba of Aleem vows to protect her people no matter what but she is about to be pushed to her limits when she embarks on a mission with a neighboring enemy land. If a deal for a treaty fails then it seems the only way to ensure peace is to link them by marriage, hers to Emperor Hanrah of Karseedia. She knows her goal and can’t afford to be distracted from her path but the moment she meets the mysterious Amshazar that idea gets thrown right out the window. He is rumored to be a sorcerer and allied to her enemy but that doesn’t stop her lust from igniting the moment they meet. The pull it seems can’t be ignored but following it could lead them both down a disastrous path. Dark forces are at every turn to do evils bidding so she has to careful of whom to trust. New friends could be foe but to trust in herself is key. Her heart will always lead her down the correct path, even if it’s breaking at the same time.

Amshazar is a magi who is called upon by the Gods – specifically Credan and Sevita – to deliver a message to the exotic lands to help prevent a war. He needs to help one and guide another to get the peace the Gods are after. Something Hurda the God of war isn’t too keen on after his meddling got them to that stage in the first place. He first befriends Hanrah and soon is a trusted part of his life, so much so that he is sent as a spokesman with the group that goes to collect and escort Elishiba back to Karseedia. She is the one he must guide for the sake of all buts it hard to do after passions collide from the moment their eyes lock. Its like something sparks to life inside her. Her own magic seems to sense his and its with his presence and guidance that she can pull it to the surface when needed most. The moment they kiss all else fades away and it’s just them in a bubble of passion. She longs for him and he craves for her. He has a job to do, one she is a part of, but he can’t tell her it all yet for fear of scaring her. Falling for her and her passionate ways wasn’t part of his plan but fate it seems has other ideas.

Poor old Hanrah, he is very much under his mother Mehtap’s rule. He must strive to over throw her to become the man he is meant to be. His loyalty seems to be to his lover Kazeen but he needs to think of all his people before his mother ruins their land for good with war. Sibias is a creepy guy who you get a bad feeling about right from the start. He is Mehtap’s puppet, one that likes to delve into the dark magic to do her bidding it seems. All you are hoping is that they get their comeuppance.

Elishiba is not alone on her journey, she may have Amshazar for now but also brings her closest friends and consorts which gives the story more depth. Xerxes is her loyal warrior and leader of the Immortals, friend and past lover, well who wouldn’t want someone like that watching your back. Her handmaids, twins Elra and Amra brought a bit of humour, loved their scenes. Yoshi her Seeress loves to speak in riddles and her ‘gift’ from Mehtap turned loyal friend Kerr was sweet – someone the twins very much hope to share. Love the way they try to entice him to their side. Believe me it doesn’t take much for him to be in ore of them and the way of life in Aleem. A much better place to be than Karseedia it seems. A power play coming from all sides has started and it soon becomes a road trip built on a dark web of mystery. A fun paranormal fantasy erotic historical read to get stuck into.
