Expensive.

Powerful.

And entirely f*cked up.

That sums up the pretentious – but elite – circle I grew up in. As much as I hate it, this life has its perks. If I want it, it’s mine. It’s as simple as that.

Until she showed up; she’s a tempting little vixen I’m not allowed to have.

One intense night changed it all between us, threatening to shatter everything we know.

She came up with a lie. I came up with a cover. Because the truth is…

I can’t keep my hands off her and one night would never be enough.

Review:

Spice levels are HOT between these two. I mean what a way to start a book! A one night stand turned fake engagement when a recording of said night gets emailed to the wrong people.

When Ronan comes knocking on Brooklyn’s door the morning after their passion filled night she isn’t sure how to handle it. More so when he informs her that a recording of what happened was emailed to the college board. The same board her dad happens to be the Dean of – horrible man right from the get go. To prevent a scandal, and help Ronan keep his job as a Professor, Brooklyn comes up with the perfect solution – pretend they are engaged.

Queue forced proximity on the horizon when she needs a place to stay, helps with the illusion of them as a couple, though the closer they are the more likely they are to touch what seems forbidden. Anyone looking at the two of them together would see the chemistry a mile off. Just takes a bit longer for deeper feelings to come to light, not that they are good at sharing them.

Ronan plans to do whatever it takes to find out who is responsible for the recording and seek justice for the harm it caused Brooklyn. The longer they spend together to more he cares and he will stop at nothing to protect her. When the pieces fall into place with who is behind it all you are willing them to get their comeuppance.

Now I feel like there should have been a bit more build up with the two of them. You are kind of thrown into their fake relationship, with lots of fun benefits, at the same time they are. There is a flash back where you can see how her crush started and maybe him noticing her but not much else. I almost feel like it might have been good to see them before the very start. Where they were and what happened to make them decide to cross that line. Whatever it was they sure like to keep crossing it. Can they make something real when it all started as a moment of weakness wanting something forbidden? Time will tell.

Interesting characters that had their problems but once they started to break down what they were really feeling and expressing it you can see where life might take them next. Spice levels high, relationship building gets there in the end, grovelling good when needed, the people behind the blackmail get what’s coming to them, even if we don’t see it all. Good book that keeps you hooked.

4 out of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the authors for my honest review.
