About the Book:

Having no one to depend on besides his club has hardened Brandon to the outside world—and it’s exactly how he prefers it. The moment he lets people get close they always find a way to backstab him. There’s no room for love in his world.
Hadley and Brandon need a reason to let their walls down and let love in. Can two broken souls find a way to save each other?

Author Interview:
1: Tell us a little about yourself and what got you in to writing?
My name is Jade Marshall, and I am a South African romance author. I know that’s a broad term, but I have found that when the inspiration hits, I don’t mind the sub-genre or trope. I have written MC Romance as well as Paranormal Romance, and recently have ventured in Reverse Harem Romance and Mafia Romance.
When I was younger my mom inspired a love of reading that was never ending. I started with smaller books until I graduated to novels. Her bookshelf was filled with the likes of Danielle Steel, Catherine Cookson, and Wilbur Smith which I all devoured. When I was a little older a different family member introduced me to Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and Anne Rice.
All throughout my school years I always excelled at creative writing. Teachers would often encourage me to follow the passion. I was always the story teller in our group of friends.
Throughout the years, writing a novel was always something that I aspired to do but lacked self-confidence. There wasn’t a moment that set me off on my writing journey, rather an idea. I wanted to be able to put into words the characters that were living in my head. It took me five years to write my first novel and gather the courage to send it out into the world. But I haven’t regretted it a day since.
2: Do you have a favourite time and place where you write?
People always laugh when I say this, because I shouldn’t be able to concentrate, but my favorite place and time to write is on the couch, in the middle of the night, on the couch, while my husband and one of his friends have an Xbox marathon.
3: Where do your ideas come from?
That’s a difficult question. Firstly, I think a lot of that is down to all the reading I do. It helps to know what has been written and trying not to do it again. Secondly, as someone with night terrors I tend to have extremely vivid dreams as well. Although some of it is utter rubbish, sometimes it inspires me.
4: Do you have a plan in your head of where the story is going before you start writing or do you let it carry you along as you go?
This is a hard no. Some of my friends in the writer community refer to my writing style as that of a pantser. LOL. I don’t plan anything except for the characters, and that only so I don’t forget hallway through. I tend to write a single scene and then expand from there. One book expanded from a kidnapping scene, another from a steamy scene, and my most recent was built around the birth of a child. I have tried planning as some of my author friends do, but it just doesn’t work out for and by chapter three I have thrown the whole plan out the window.
I do however have a massive file that I put all my notes in. Some are song lyrics that I want to use as inspiration, others are just short ideas and how to infuse that into a story. Most of it is actually just plain nonsense.
5: What genre are your books and what drew you to that genre?
My debut novel and series is Motorcycle Club Romance. I grew up around bikers and the community and have always been drawn to the lifestyle. I was about eight years old or so when my uncle first had me ride on the back of his Harley and I’ve been addicted ever since.
As I grew older, I came to appreciate a lot of the values that can be found in and around a club. I even took it as far as to marry the Sergeant at Arms.
The Paranormal, Reverse Harem, and Mafia novels simply stem from what I enjoy reading. I will probably be adding a ton more as I grow as an author.
6: What dream cast would you like to see playing the characters in your latest book?
To be honest I haven’t thought about that. But my inspiration for Giulia was loosely based on Gal Gadot. I love the way she is able to portray fierceness and vulnerability in the same character. Besides, she is kind of a bad ass.
7: Do you read much and if so who are your favourite authors?
I read probably two or three books a week, depending on the length of each novel. As for favorite authors I always find this question hard. It all depends on genre and my mood.
I will always have a love for Wilbur Smith, Anne Rice, and Stephen King. I am completely obsessed with Shantel Tessier at the moment after reading The Ritual and can’t wait for her next book. Scarlet Sweet has an awesome Wolf Shifter short story series that has me hooked, and then I have fallen into the Club Sin series which is a multi-author series. And then there is Tiffany Reisz, Jay Crownover, Jay Mclean, Olivia Cunning, AM Madden, Julie Kagawa, John Saul, Jamie McGuire, and probably a thousand others that I haven’t mentioned.
8: What book/s are you reading at present?
I just finished Blood Consort by DS Wrights. My next read is going to be Bad Cruz by LJ Shen.
9: What is your favourite book and why?
The Green Mile by Stephen King. I loved the fact that He was able to do something so heart rending beautiful when people only expect horror from him. John Koffee is the saddest, most beautiful, broken, loving character I have ever read. This novel broke my heart with the darkness that exists in humanity, while restoring my faith that not everyone is out for themselves. I cry every time I read it.
10: What advice would you give for someone thinking about becoming a writer?
If you don’t try you will never know. Looking back on what I have accomplished in the past two years I realize that I was the person holding myself back. I was too afraid to try, to open myself to ridicule. I could have accomplished so much more already if I hadn’t been held back by my own fear.
Also, don’t take everything personally. Not everyone is going to like you work and that’s okay. In books, as in life, you can’t please everyone.
11: What are the best Social Media Sites for people to find out about you and your work?
I try to stay active on most sites, but the upkeep is murderous. I have a Facebook group that I try to post to at least three times a week. That includes updates, giveaways, parties, and silly memes. I also have an Instagram profile and a TikTok profile although those aren’t updated as regularly.
I also have a website. You can find any of those here https://linktr.ee/jmarshall.author
